Ignition Coils for CJ Lancer

sorry fellas, I didnt ignore your suggestions..

those evo X coils are still in the picture.. I just wanted to check and have a laugh if how much the coils are from Mitsubishi directly..

yeah, but here in Australia, you have to allow for the dealer to pay off his business with the first 200-odd transactions! Plus, he promised to take his wife out to a ritzy dinner... all on you!

So, do what Ryan says, buy from OS. Or, get someone experienced to get you some used EVO X coil-packs direct from Japan... That way, you have the very best, most powerful, could want for nothing more!!!

Oh I wasn't having a go at you. Moreso the fact that MMAL screw us over so much. Why we are paying 3-4x what the US pays beats me....

it's cool.. I didnt think you were having a go at me, and I do agree with MMAL, even in Philippines parts are expensive..

thanks for the help :)

Coils for $35USD delivered

Not sure if these are the same, or very close to what you need.. but it shows that you can find them cheaper.

in theory, the 4B11 coil packs are ideal as the length and diameter is pretty much spot on.. I've search everywhere if where I can get the femal connectors, but unfortunately they're a little bit too hard to find at the moment..

You might have to visit a wrecker and get the injection loom as well as 2nd-hand injectors.. or hard wire them..

Tryg, thanks for the reply.. I've finally sourced a set.. not from a 4B11 though.. from a Toyota...

here's couple of pics of the setup.. first pic was taken when I was still making up the harness..

and these are when they were installed on my engine..

been running it for about 2 weeks without a hiccup.. except today when i changed the plugs.. didn't gapped them to .8mm, just wanted to see what effects it would have.. got a bit of lag I think due to the big plug gap.. will be changing the gap again tomorrow..

I'll eventually fabricate a similar setup for my lancer MR.. lol it'll probably be the only 1.8L N/A SOHC with COP setup.. haha

nice work, so those dimensions for the CJ coil packs were similar to a Toyota part too!?!? Yes?

If so, good to know...

Tryg, the dimension is close.. I had to trim the bottom part of the coil.. towards the silicon boot.. just enough to clear..

I'll take measurements of the coil so I can give you some accurate measurements..

but from memory I only had to remove 2mm..

thanks... I am sure most will only be interested if it is a direct fit.. I am not sure the price you paid, if they're new or second-hand... but most CJ owners have the luxury of 5 year warranty... so not so many will be looking for them anytime soon.

Glad it worked out well for you.

they were brand new and didnt cost me an arm.. :)

I cant see why yours would fail anytime soon.. even if its after 10 years..

reason I changed mine was due to having low spark at mid to high rpm.. but this surely did resolve it.. I think Mitsubishi under engineered their turbocharged cars.. 3 coils for the v6? and 2 coils for the i4? kind of stupid really..

no wonder toyota's got good reputation with their engine's performance and reliability..
