i learnt a hard lesson with my headlights.

i had reflector stock headlights, swapped the stock globes over to 8000k philips diamond vision... 150$...had a nice blue/white beam but couldnt see *poo* at night.

got angels. swapped the globes to 6000k HIDs. they really in all honesty didnt make a difference to my visibility at night. just made a nice white/blue beam... then they died 2 hours after using them (yew go hongkong).

i just put stock headlights back onto my car, and iv put some 50% brighter, 20% whiter globes in. and they r by far the brightest headlight beam iv had so far! never going back, or risking HIDs in reflector headlights.

lol i agree cant see *poo* at night with hids or blue-white bulbs
ESPECIALLY in the rain :p

thats why i keep my driving lights with lowbeam amber bulbs, put them on in the rain and u can see perfect

Get 4300K slim-line HIDs. Way brighter and a better quality of light than any incandescent bulb out there,,,,

Were they imported? Philips only stock 5000 Kelvin 'Diamond Visions' in Australia from memory...

Lol any oldish car with HIDs is straight away a cop magnet if the cop is out to defect someone, projectors or no projectors..

I did put them in my Yamaha FJR1300, Ryan, they didn't blind people with haze, as long as the lens was clean.... as you can imagine, a big bike launching and high-rev gear changes, it lifted a lot but still did not attract cops (even when they had the same bike as their patrol bikes). I did, however, use 4300k HID, they look very, very close to halogen bulbs (might be the difference between being a defect-magnet or being left alone)

Just my 2c

Yeah but a CE with them, it's gonna be obvious to any cop that there's no way they ever came legally with HID....

older Lancer owners are truly lucky anyway, can get projector housing front headlamps very very inexpensively...

hey mate look i whent out with the mind set, if the job is going to be done then do it properly, which was a costly decision as i had bought the 2 Phillips Ballast and also 43,000K Bulbs to suit.....as that is the only temp color they offer all up it costed just under $600 and thats directly from Phillips as i know the VIC Rep but it was a decision that was never regretted, i know heaps of people that buy them off ebay and say they have phillips and all the other brands yet all thiers had lasted them for a max of 6 months before the ballast blew!

Pluss a tip you cannot use Phillips ballast with any other HID Bulb as the wireing harned from the ballast to the bulb is different, as the cheapies have the round jacks, Phillips have a elongated squareish jack, yet nothing a bit of re-wiering wouldnt fix i guess....

wow $600 on hids.... i certainly couldnt justify that, i have an ebay kit, lasting 2+ years now with no troubles with anything
cost me ~$60, so i'd say i got my monies worth dubbly already, and after such a good cheap kit i couldnt justify paying that much

i guess u were pretty serious when u said u were doing it well and right the first time

side note for ppl lookign to retrofit projectors
handy link here that Uncle_pauly directed me to a few weeks ago so credit goes to him for finding this link
just thort i'd share as it has some good stuff for retrofitting projectors for anyone who is interested
http://www.theretrofitsource.com/

Lost count of the times I slammed noobs on MCA/CCJ with that link who said HIDS were "zomg awezomeeeeeeeee" in a reflector light housing.

if you car has 1 defect why stop there, either have none or go all out.

thats basicly the hole idea of moding cars, it doesn't come back to you
