help with 2nd amp instal

My best advice would be to run seperate wire tracks for all your audio system wiring, keeping power away from RCA & speaker wire.
Turn the volume on your head unit down, and the voloume on your amps up. (use the amps to do the turning while keeping the head unit on pretty standard settings) Make sure the earths for the amps are both do different spots and be sure that they are on bolts connected directly to the car chassie. Be sure not to have much power & earth wire wire exposed from insullation at connections. Make sure all connection are tight and clean. Lastly try to keep the wire from amp to speakers/subs as short as possible, don't leave lengths rolled up under carpet on in you spare wheel hole. (yes i have seen this happen before)

so, you should have pre-amp interference. I would suggest, humbly, that running power under the car would be a better move. The RCAs should be run internally, but also kept away (as much as practicably possible from the loom). Keep your power cable as far away as possible from the ignition components where the bulk of the EM interference is being created.

If you do all those things, I can see no reason why you would have any issues. My Kenwood install remains clean of noise and I have not used over-the-top double shielded anything...

Good luck

I'd say this isn't anything to do with his routing of wires as he's said they are on opposite sides of the car.

It's a common problem with Pioneer's RCA outs to go pop, because of a micro-fuse between the chassis ground and the RCA ground. When you get a bit of a ground loop happening, short circuit even on the amp output I believe it likes to go pop and even just unplugging or plugging in the RCAs onto the amp with the deck running can do it!

My AVIC did it after I accidentally bumped a crossover under my driver's seat when installing new speakers. Pioneer were kind enough to fix it under warranty with no questions asked but ever since there has still been a faint yet slightly annoying whine in the speakers. Seeing this thread reminded me to pop into jaycar on my way back from Uni then and get a RCA ground isolator:

Guess what? It works! I've now got no more friggen whine in the speakers. So I would recommend you try this Cesario.
