CE Lancer won't start - problem solved !!!

Re: CE Lancer won't start

Tried another battery - same same..

Hoses were all connected and not disturbed.. I did look but they are still on..

I'll try swapping the pins around to see what this does..

On the fuel side, do I still need to check the fuel pump relays or its safe to assume as I do have fuel passing through that the relay's and pump works ok. Also, as injectors have constant power and pulse when starting, that that is ok also ????

cheers

Re: CE Lancer won't start

Problem solved !!

Spark plugs.. - Didn't have a socket to fit but got one on the way to work yesterday arvo - thanks Supercheap Auto's..

Took them out and my god you would not believe how dirty...

Cleaned all - reset gaps and before refitting them, ensured spark.. Refitted and after a few splutters to get rid of excessive fuel, roared into life like the workhorse she is..(he, its the wife's car..)..

Ran a while, turned off then on again, first time.. As if nothing ever happened...

Total cost - a few days of cursing, recharging batteries, endless searches over the internet with going worst case scenario, only to be one of the first things to look at.. (but didn't cause no plug socket)..

Thanks for everyone's contributions, positive or otherwise..

Here's a pic of the car - $400 for car and $400 for the wheels..

Suprisingly they were more dry than wet just very caked up with crap with no way spark was remotely close to getting through..

A good soak and clean worked wonders..

Know this is a frankenthread.. but this is a current roid here…

May 2003 1.8 Lancer M/T is doing this crap here… original keys new fuel pump… no injector pulse…..
This has factory keyless entry etc and yes the engine light stays on ~4 sec then quickly turns off and on again…

Checked inside ECU and the injectors are on a pull down array.. but not being driven… saw a post here about 22 and 8 pins swapped… (was this on an A/T or M/T variant?) from what I can see on pinout this could be strapped to Fuel pump relay & AC Clutch relay in M/T form or Generator G terminal and MIL terminal on A/T

The immobiliser unit - what state does this change on the ECU - is it a data stream or level shift (high/low state) or short to ground

Would be good for my daughter to be able to get to her job…

Hey mate, I have seen recently(in the last 4+ years) that the immob system can fail. No real rhyme or reason.

Is there anything that changed recently? Ie new parts fitted, did the car sit around for months ect?

If there’s nothing you can think of…

I’d try removing flashing the immob out of the ECU. There are services available if you don’t have the tools to do this yourself, very easy to find online. Worst case, a decent local auto locksmith should be help you out.

I imagine it’s also possible to bypass the immob, but that kind of info isn’t available online as it’s basically a free pass to steal cars.

Yeah it was out of circulation for around 2 months… it did start n run at one time in the morning… then dead again since…

ECU is the MD360479
