CE Lancer won't start - problem solved !!!

Well after my burn and repair all wiring worked fine, engine started..

Got a permit for the Lancer to get roadworthy inspection today.. Had to wait 2 weeks for roadworthy.. Car was sitting and I assume battery ran down.. Now typically, wouldn't start and missed getting roadworthy...

Its a 2002 MR lancer coupe, 4G15 motor, manual with air and power steer.. Factory alarm and factory Immobilizer..

Nothing I do now will start the car..

Checked leads - have pulse.. Checked fuel line, got fuel... Checked injectors - got power but no pulse..

Charged up battery both remotes work.. Have left accessory on 1 hour (and more) even turned off for 15 minutes before attempting to start but still won't start..

How to reset immobilizer or what can I do now to get it to work before biting the bullet for an auto electrician..

Any help appreciated..

Re: MR Lancer won't start

How come your MR coupe has a 1.5 engine in it? They only came out with 1.8. Did you change it?

Does it click or make any sound when you try ?

It turns over, does everything it should just not fire up..

I reckon its the immobilizer myself...

Re: MR Lancer won't start

I just bought it and done getting it ready for roadworthy..

Its a 2002 Lancer coupe.. It's 1.5 litre engine.. 4G15.. It has MR stuff so I assume it was MR.. Compliance plate says CE.. MR body kit..

Re: MR Lancer won't start

its not the MR, probably a gli with an MR kit. i reckon it could be the sparkplugs or ignition wires.
do gli's even have an immobiliser?

Re: CE Lancer won't start

Could be heaps. Could be crank sensor. Could be an aftermarket immobilisor, could be a factory fitted immobilisor, are you checking it right? Put an LED test light across the injector plug, crank, does it flash?

I have stated it has a factory immobilizer..

Not sure what you mean by "are you checking it right" ?????

Injectors have power but not pulse power - hence why it is not firing...

The fuel rail has fuel going through them when cranked..

I don't have a spark plug socket at this stage so cannot confirm they are firing but the leads have juice to them as I have checked this..

I have not checked the crank sensor..

The injectors dont pulse power, they are negatively pulsed. Also it takes 5 mins to pull the factory alarm out, its just a plug in deal, try that. Ive removed a fair few because theyve failed. You just need to power up the horn wire to a constant, as that gets it power from the alarm, wich is no longer there obviously.

Re: CE Lancer won't start

Don't know where the factory alarm is situated.. if I "lock" the vehicle with doors open the horn goes off but I havent yet found an alarm module/box..

re: injectors - well ok, they don'd pulse but have constant power to them...

I don't know where the injector relay is to test or replace it.. Fuel pump works..

Re: CE Lancer won't start

Factory alarm is drivers kickpanel, drop down the fuse box and just unplug it. Try that imo.

Re: CE Lancer won't start

Ahhhh, well then... That changes things. Take it to an auto elec. no offense but you will end up doing more bad than good, wich seems to have already happened. Lol

Joshy is the man to talk to about this problem, but maybe he's not aware of the back story. May help viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4700

First post but yes...

I'm confident with my soldering also and damage caused.... It worked a treat right up until the battery went flat is all...

No offence taken.. can't take it where it won't go..

Re: CE Lancer won't start

KK, development...

Was referred to Lancer guru in ACT.. I called him and he assures me that when the engine light goes off - then immobilizer is not armed or stopping the vehicle from starting.

I checked injectors that have power and pulse when turning over..

When I remove fuel return line, fuel trickles out after attempting to start - not sure if it is enough or not to start the car or not..

I would prefer to trouble shoot further before I admit defeat and take to a specialist..

Any help IS appreciated..

Re: CE Lancer won't start

I would actually go back to original thought and get a new battery or borrow one - as the car started ok before and has been sitting for a few weeks. I know that you said the accessories has no problem in working but I have had that happen too were the battery was good enough to run other things but not enough to start the car...

Immobiliser is another area, swap pins 22 and 8 on ecu this is a bypass

Check that you have all your vaccum hoses are connected
