1.5 Performance Upgrade

Hey guys.

Ok i just sold my vt commodore and my factory 5speed manual vk.
So getting to the point im missing the power. What are some upgrades i can do without spending loads of money?
 
To be honest, unless you're going to build up slowly, you will need a bucket of cash to have the sort of power a 3.8ltr vee six has, or even a 3.3ltr straight six (if that is what your VK had)...

May I suggest sorting out your suspension and braking, to allow better cornering (which is where I keep up with more powerful cars, due to better handling).

Then, sort out cold air induction and exhaust...which will serve you well no matter what you do to internally with the engine or if you charge air later...

Then you can build up the motor ready for turboing...

So who's playing silly buggers? Ah yeah I guess lots of ralliart stickers, maybe throw in a shopping list down the side. Some dragon vinyls, maybe something tribal in hot pink. Some 20 inch chromies, the biggest loudest sickestest subs you can find maybe 4 of them. Stick on a bonnet vent or two, some my family stickers, and don't forget those fully sick seat covers and matching floor mats...

Who is it (other than me) that is sick of the same lame questions being asked when it's all found on either the search feature or google???
 
I guess...but everyone who joins can have some personal attention, that's what makes this place great...

Rather than fob people off, maybe encourage them to become active participants in our forum and assist them finding the superlative information we have already placed on here!!

Just going by their user name, date joined, the cars that have been sold to buy a lancer sounds like a joke to me, could be wrong but...

I have been thinking of the over abundance of people asking questions that they should be going to see someone (MECHANIC!!!) about rather than ask for solutions that could be almost anything on the internet, even could just be a car in need of a good old fashioned service, fuel filters, tappets, air filter, spark plugs etc. Just sounds to me like someone else is thinking the same.

eg. 12hrs on a pod filter installation problem due to removing a plate off of a maf...
 
It's all a bit subjective...really. Some of the more 'complex' questions here may seem tedious to others, those more experienced.

But the point is, we help people here. Even if you think it's a joke, why pass judgement...or we will become a place that just condemns everyone instead...

Maybe I'll do a write up on ce's listing mods to do so and then someone can sticky it. We just keep getting the same question with the same answers is all if it is genuine then I apologise.
 
Ok mate i go to a forum like this to get first hand information from those who have experienced these same modifications. Yeah i go to my local machanic so he can try sell me every piece of equipment , of course a macanics gonna talk *poo*, thats how he gets his pay check. And my names a joke mate, bot one of those *Richard Cranium*s that put others in danger by speeding or doing burnouts. And previous cars? Whats wrong with commodores mate? If you ask me you just sound like a real jerk, that thinks his king *poo*.
 
Seriously, don't mind some knee-jerk reactions... We get a lot of impersonal 1st posters, who ask questions without introductions and it can get a bit tedious...

Don't mind me just seemed rather convenient considering the amount of people who have sold their lancers, bought commo's instead so to have a post like that with your name. Seemed very much to me like a joke, take a look at a couple of the members rides threads like the example of res's up in my previous post. More power for little money for a 1.5L

1.8L throttle body with manifold bored out

Extractors and full exhaust

Would be a good start
 
Ok. Ill have a look. And yeah i do miss my commodore although as a student couldnt afford to keep it with the problems it had and the petrol prices. Setting it stright, im jamie, 17, live on the central coast, doing my HSC. Ived owen a mazda 121 metro and the two commodores. Brought the lancer becuase i have always been fan. Im on my phone now but when im on my computer next ill adds some pics and list of mods i have at the moment.

What work would you like to do after your studies? Or, will do be going on to uni?
 
Really interested in modified cars, visual more then perfomance so i woud like to be a panel beater then go on to learn paint but the pays not that flash hot.
 
No just would rather be at school untill i find the right job then droping out and bummen around the streets. Plus no point leaving now when ive only got a couple of months left. Then teast i have something to fall back on.
 
I quit in yr 12, pity I didn't stay and get my HSC... but back in 1988 you could get a good job with less education..

Since, I have gone back to school, but I regret it (so yeah, stay!)

Also welcome to the forum, I suggest sifting through Res's ride thread as other have posted, and epic build on the cheap IMO. Im in Sydney, so not far from you at all, if you are looking for parts on the cheap, make a day of going to Blacktown self serve wreckers! I might even pop out (I love an excuse to goto the wreckers)
