Would removing the instrument cluster stop car from starting??

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but if I have sold the cluster out of my wreck, would that stop the car starting?
Have done nothing else and she no longer starts. Turns over but won't start.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

Nope, shouldnt stop it. Matter of fact, the car will crank over with no ecu plugged in as well

As the instrument cluster turns on some functions when switched from accessories to ignition there obviously is a link to the ignition, could this have a link, affecting your problem.
need to connect two wires perhaps? Which ones and how???

Doesn't affect the car starting. Basically all your cluster does is recieve signals and light up/move dials. The only thing remotely near it engine related is the speedo cable which does nothing for engine cranking. Probs dead battery or something dumb like that.

Go back to the basics. Air, fuel, spark.
Check each 1.
Is the pump working do u have fuel to the fuel rail.
Remove a spark plug put it back into the lead and let it earth out on the block etc.
If something isnt working. Trace it back to find out the reason.

less efficient but things were so much easier when we just had carbys and a distributer to deal with! Oh for a pair of SUs' or 2 twin choke Webbers!

Wonder how the present 2ltr engine would work with a pair of Webbers?
Wish I had the cash flow to try it out, sheer interest,or just for fun!
Would still have to have the ECU look after the rest? Hmm

I believe theres a few people that are doing carby setups on LS1 engines (Holden 5.7L). Massive up front investment of cash and tuning, but power-wise they can keep up with injector systems. At the same time, they need a lot of money thrown at it to keep the carb making as much power as an injected engine

I, for one, am so glad that carbies are long gone. In my lifetime of cars Ive had twin solex's, webbers, hollies and they all were a freaking nightmare. I don't think at any stage that they ever stayed "perfect" for more than a month. If they were ever perfect at all. In my experience anyway. Long live Fuel Injection. :)

The joys of motoring, but yes it certainly is bliss with the reliability of modern technology.

I could not agree more, gone are the days trying to start the old holden at 5am on a freezing cold morning, firmly grasping my knob (choke knob that is) pulling it back and forth to find the sweet spot where the engine would run ok and not wash my cylinders clean as it struggled to run with an over rich fuel mix.
I don't really miss carby kit changes / leaky fuel lines / sticky float valves / and trying to get my triple carbs to sync within a coo-wee of each other.

I really miss the classic cars, but not the constant maintenance, fuel injection has spoilt me in a way, but in a good way, as much as i hate to admit it, yes i love fuel injection!

Oh yeah sorry jpb.308, donki and rigby are right , should not make any difference to starting, check wires to key reader / ign you when you removed dash, if it was starting/running ok before dash removal, than 99% chance it would have to be something from this action, unless your the 1% unlucky one? not sure what your driving?may as well check fuel / spark / all sensors including O2 as well, just in case?
