whats the difference???

what is the difference between a POD filter, and a Pannel filter?

i know the pannel filter can slot right into an existing airfilter's box, but what bonuses does it give in comparison to a POD filter?
sound, KW's, cooler engine, *woo-hoo* appeal?

Gay, dont do it, a few reasons why

- Lose power
- Defectable
- Looks gay unless you have a massive turbo to go with it

some look ok, it really depends how you do it. int he long run its just another ricer mod though

Bryce, im looking at getting a Panel filter, not POD filter. i know pod filters are defectable, plus they r likely to void my dealler warrenty.

so i wana go with a K&N panel filter :) i think they giv a tiny bitta horse power, like 1-3, and an increase in airflow to the engine. so i may as well, spesh when even if a cop looks under my bonet, he wont be able to see it, cause it will be in the existin factory airfilter box :)

car mobs spend thousands of $$$$$ and hours building the stock air box so its goin to be the best setup you can have, go with the k&n pannel all the way

i agree, they spend alot in research, and in our lancers, it was more than likely to get fuel effiency, and or emmisons requirements.

run the panel. no arguemnts there, but i suggest that you remove the lower resonator box.

i'm running an intake now that goes to the stock air box, and then no resonator boxes/restrictions after that, and i must say, its better than my CAI.

:)

yeah i had a pod on for a while and got rid of it for a stock air box again with out the resonator box, runns heaps better

yeh go pannel all the way less work on making it good

+1 for removing the lower resonators
dont remove the higher resonator just b4 the throttle body, dunno why but if u remove it u will lose some power (no idea why *shrugs*)

altho i think the stock box doesnt give as good throttle note but meh
there is really no difference in performance between a pod (done properly) and a stock box

wats a lower n higher resonator box? can sum1 show me them ina pic?

lower one is the one that has ur little intake trunk coming out just behind the headlight (that trunk goes into the lower resonators)
the higher resonator is the small odd shaped thing just b4 ur throttle body on the intake pipe (it comes out the top)
you can disconnect the lower resonators no fuss, they do nothing but keep water out and dim the sound a bit
the higher resonator (if u remove it) can be plugged with a coke bottle cap if u want, but if u remove the higher one u lose a bit of power (dont kno why u just do)

yeah im running a pod filter.. breathes alot better then an airbox..

F U haters lol

+1 for pod users!!!

agreed pods have more potential to be better, it just depends how its setup
(altho same could be said for panels but they are limited to the existing box)

engines want to breathe when you start bolting on supporting mods and tuning. intake and headers and exhausts on stock cars are the first things to limit power im pretty sure...

thanks for the help man :)

yehhh i noticed the air goes in at the top, flows down into a diff box, then goes back up into the airfilter.. i was like "wtf is the point in that...?

makes it so water wont get into ur intake coz the stock filters are not oiled
if u get a k&n it has no purpose coz k&n's are oiled
