sports exhaust system!

I was going to do an exhaust.
Some extractors and piece of pipe out the front fender. Much cheaper, louder and more performance gain.

4-1 headers are more about mid range to higher end power.

were as your 4-2-1, or tri-y's keep that real strong midrange, and a bit more low range torque to.

but the reason why i choose the 4-1's, is that, if im plodding around town, peak hour traffic etc. why do i need extra power??

but if i wanted to launch quick and stuff with the 421's, i wouldn't have as much power as i would with 4-1's....

does that make sense? or have i misunderstood the concept :/

you'll have to put your foot down more and the engine will have to work harder to get up n go starting off at low revvs, like when your overtaking or accelerating after changing lanes if youve got 4>1 pipes, especially with 1.5l where low to mid is where the engine struggles, is where you want more torque

it all comes down to how you drive your car and what you use it for...

if i need to overtake someone, i use my gearbox, instead of putting the engine through intesnse labour in whatever gear its in.

if you've got your foot down, and it aint making power, then your in the wrong gear.

your right, its a 1.5 which has no guts below um.....well, it has no guts haha

but i generally dont try and overtake in 5th gear, always down change and keep the rpm's up, thats if your in a hurry to get wherever your going... :/

im more talking bout changing lanes in city to overtake someone - and u summed it up ...if ur changing gears to rev it up more to get it to go theres ur engine having to work harder to do it, if uve got the 4-2-1 extractors u can do it a little bit easier in higher gears - but i agree there is a point that downshifting is the only option, just the 4-2-1's you dont have to do it quite so much and the engine doesnt feel quite so gutless and like there's nothing there down low in the revs

i see what you mean :) and agree with you witht he whole low down torque thing.

haven't really done much deep city driving as i dont need to go into the city often. but im happy with the 4-1's. :)

sports exhaust system is installed. its from the cat back to the tip. not headders to tip. o well, it still sounds AWESOME! alot better then i thought it would sound actually. its got a really nice "drone" sound to it :)

this is my old one, sounds like ass but if you ever seen it you would know why

haha :p yeah - when i first got my complete new exhaust sytem it was absolutely silent, when i first went to pick the car up , i started it but the thing was already going and made that lovely grinding / screeching noise ...took about a week of driving / smelling paint burning before it really started to get a nice sound to it - and once i went from the stock airflow system to a SRI the noise and burble increased heaps! :)

haha yeh the first 15mins it smelt and wasnt that loud. but after 200km's of driving, its worn in n has a beautiful drone to it :D

generally 'drone' is a thing most frown upon, but im sure yours sounds good :)

post up a video clip or something :) leave the camera behind the car and blip it a few times ;)

i was quoted 400 for extractors installed for my car . Still not sure what im doing with it lol

$400 is alright i think. its not eexpensive, nor dirt cheap.

what brand/design? :)

ill get a cam to record it from behind, plus ill try get one from in the car:) i really liek the sound it makes. idk wat "drone" means to people, but to me that word describes the sound its making really well, n its a good sound btw :)

as long as ur happy with it thats all that matters...but there are some exhausts that reverberate and sound so horrible when revved hard and sound tinny ......ill give u a semi honest opinion when i hear ur exhaust clip :p
