Service Manual- Where Do I Get It?

At work, we have "service manuals" for all of our vehicles that not only detail the specifications for each vehicle, but the complete servicing information... How each part operates and comes apart, what replacement parts should be used, how to service each part and when, etc.

The sort of thing that's used by Mitsubishi themselves, as I understand it.

Pure and simple - where can I get a hold of something like this for my Lancer?

If the service manuals at work are anything to go buy, I'd be able to do a lot of the servicing and planned modifications myself with such a guide at hand... At least in theory.

you can get your standard work shop manual which actually covers alot from super cheap auto, auto barn etc...

or alternativly i suppose you could call up mitsi and try and get one through them, but i can bet it wont be cheap

What you are refering to is the gregory/haynes manual

Ebay sells them and so do your average car pats shops autobarn supercheap etc
Or alternativly if u want an electronic copy free there are some scattered over the interwebs

what brand are the manuals at your work? They sound pretty extensive .

I work for the Army, whom has a "service manual" for every vehicle on its books (yes, even all the fancy stuff, like choppers and tanks)... Some of the maintenance is done by the Army, though most of it is done by whoever hold the contract with the Department of Defense at the time.

Every unit in the Army (should!) have copies of these servicing manuals for their fleet of vehicles, and I would assume that the civilian servicing guys would have copies too.

Obviously I can't go into details regarding the content, but to answer your question, yes they are quite extensive...

So is this sort of thing available (as some of you have suggested above), or is this an Army-specific thing?

Ive found had the Gregory's one pretty useful.
Have you seen the Haynes manual?

I was just looking at the Gregory's manual today & it has the Haynes logo inside the cover. Are they the same book with different branding?

No I havent seen a Haynes one.
I know Supercheap sell them, but I've never seen one in store.
Unlike the Gregory's ones that are always there.

haynes bought gregory’s out a few years ago, which is why all the new gregory’s books have haynes logos in them as well

i haven’t seen the haynes-branded lancer book, but i’d hazard a guess it’s probably the same content as the gregory’s-branded, just re-released with a different cover to tap into the haynes-loyal market. if you ever see the two side by side, compare them :)

if in doubt, get the gregory’s one, because it’s known to be good
