Rims

Hey yall,

im new so im allowed to asked repeated questions,

but basically , 2013 lancer, what is the legal max rim you can put on ,
and what size can you get away with :shifty: i.e. what are the straight up rim-tyre basics. (if i know ill sound like less of a douch bag in the wheel shop)

Ps, i did do a search, but could not find a precise answer

Pss have not ever got the car yet, had to change lease company.

Pss if someone is able to direct me to a good previous post , i would be happy.

Well the vrx's come stock with 18's I believe, so maybe 19's maximum with minimal comfort retained. And you'd probably be looking at about 8" width maximum too.

Thank you for that.

Dont worry about feeling like a douchebag hahaha, the tyre shop will check your current tyre and work out witch size to use on the bigger wheels. They will then give your options of your tyre to suit your budget.

Also, I reckon lowered on 19" or 20" wheels looks awesome (BMW spec) but you would be sacrificing comfort (keep stock springs)

depends what state youre in. qld, few percent over factory rolling diameter. and correct load ratings must be retained. if you can get a combo to work with in those parameters then go for gold.

personally, 18 or 19's look best on cj's, 9.5+30 to +22 is winrar

when i buy wheels i'm thinking 18x8.5's maybe 18x9's depending on how painful fitting is.
As for legality, I'd be more conscientious about not sticking out beyond the guard compared to rim diameter, as long as you maintain overall rim and tyre diameter.

Thanks bro . I think I'll take that advice ; lowered on 19".

Thanks bro. I'll definatly look into 19, that sounds like just enough.

Good luck with 8.5 or 9 on a cj and not poking. We had 18x8 +36 on our cj (no suspension or guard work) and they sat pretty much inline with the outside edge of the car. With people in the back they would constantly scrub on every little bump. You've gotta remember they only come with a 6.5 standard or 18x7 in the vrx. I would suggest x8 +25 would be about the limit with supporting mods to make them work.

19"x8" with 225/35s wil suit. Depending on offset of rim you may need the rear guards rolled. If you are interested in performance my advice would be don't go over 18". With 19s you will have a rougher ride and be sacrificing handling.

Liam, some states only allow a 1" increase in width from memory. 8" would be the widest I would go....

True, if that worries you, I wouldn't do it, I'm not 100% sure on what I'll do, more research needs to be done, but generally sitting outside the guard concerns me more in terms of getting defected then outright width.
From the research I've done though, rolled guards with 18x8.5 +30 to +35 wheels will fit with not much issue with poke. I've even heard of a setup with 17x9 +45 with stretched tyres on the fronts with 17x8 +40 on the rear, however I can't really verify it. I'll be doing my own homework when the time comes, can only take what you read on clubcj etc with a grain of salt.
I intend to get as aggressive fitting as I can get away with.

18x8.75 +35 with 225/40/18

Anything 20" or less is possible.
I saw a showcar somewhere with 21+ and it literally got rolled off a truck to have those wheels.

I personally will be going 19" instead of the factory 16" alloys.

I did have 19" rims on mine and in all honestly I wouldn't do it again! Less grip, dearer rubber and rough as hell! Honestly I wouldn't consider anything over 18" personally...

I want 19" and my mate's 86 has "17 whereas my other mate has 18" on his RX-8. Might have to listen to you Ryan and get some 18"s. :why:

Saving a bit of money would help too :D

Yeah 19s do look good but if you want performance I would look for a bit more meat in the side wall....

Also I noticed you have the RRM crank pulley, make sure you keep an eye on it, there first revision had issues with premature wear and causing the cranks seal to leak oil. Supposedly was fixed in the second revision but I would just keep an eye out still...

I planned RRM originally but 300 for shipping was steep. SO I'm got an Alutec one from W.A. $20 postage.

And also any forum I had read had bad things to say about RRM warranties and part replacement internationally.

Yup I had RRM headers and the flex join failed within the first month, they weren't helpful at all...
