QLD - Turboing your Lancer on your P's

Darwinism isn't kicking in mate. They just walk away from every crash and buy another. And my mates who work near the mines and get 100k+ a year, of course they're gonna go buy high powered cars. There's no way they won't, it's pretty much a solid fact. A couple already have BMW's pushing the kw limits.

Wasn't really my point. It's up to the person if they want to keep buying cars and wasting their money because they keep crashing them, what I'm saying is it's not the system that is the problem - its the driver, take it slowly when you start to reach the cars/your own limits back it off a bit.

i may be doing this wrong but the eqation is (kw/weight +90kg) * 1000 = kw/t

for some reason im only seeing it get to about 64kw/t so i cant see how u couldnt trubo a ce

ofcorse it would be a small turbo but its possible me thinks

lol rigby what you complaining about? Go buy an XR6 then :p Or come to WA where there's none of this no turbo/v8's on P's nonsense....yet

i think wat rigby is saying is that a turbod ce that puts out say 140kw is still not gonna beat a xr6 that is hitting the 220kw limit yet u can drive the xr6 which has more power and not the turbo ce that doesnt

So what's your suggestion? Let every 17 year old with their P's have whatever they want? If you think a V8 is too hard to handle, then what do you think a turbo converted lancer is going to be like for a new driver hitting boost for the first time in the wet? I personally think a XR6/SV6 is a much safer car for a new driver to be in then doing a turbo conversion to an NA factory car that was not designed for that sort of power.

eqn: (1000 / kerb weight) * power

GLI

Kerb Weight: 950kg
Power: 69kw

P/W: 72.63kw/tonne

MR

Kerb Weight: 990kg
Power: 86kw

P/W: 86.86kw/tonne

i cant comment on the boost as ive never been in a car with a turbo :( but ive taken my xr6 around so many corners in the rain and to tell u the truth they have a serious amount of power hidden away

More due to the torque in it. Which has no limit within P plate restrictions - so just get a torque monster.

That wasn't directed at you, but the thing with V6's and V8's is the power is alot more progressive and even, whereas depending on how a turbo car is tuned, you generally have nothing (lag) then you hit all your power at once. Factory turbo'd cars are tuned properly and will be a lot more even, whereas anyone can whack a turbo on and the tune can be to hit max boost at say 3000 RPM, you can be effectively doubling that power in the space of a couple of hundred revs. Especially in a front wheel drive car that is not made to handle a turbo and for an inexperienced driver trying to handle it.

You really think they'll allow turbo conversions? It'll be for oem turbo cars for sure

If a P plate smart enough they get there piece of paper so they can drive said car all they have to do is get one of there mates who just got off the Ps and drive straight into a performances shop and get it sneakily retune .
And that's bull sh1t

i no the next car im getting on my p's

Gay. You can't drive a car like that thinking you're cool and all when it's an AUTOMATIC!

My manual lancer is better than that car.
