Pod Filter

Hey guys, new to this forum.

I just want to know what type of pod filter i should get for my Lancer CC 1.8L 1995 .

Roughly how much it would cost and all that.

Don't get one if you think it's going to give you more power, tests prove it doesn't in most cars.
Also check your local laws, here in QLD they need to be covered or you can get a defect notice.

None because it has been proven to either do nothing or be counter-productive compared to the stock air box. Better off with a good brand panel filter (like K&N) with some sort of cold air induction leading to the airbox (which means ripping out the stock induction). The stock induction sucks air from behind the drivers headlight which is only slightly better than having a pod filter sucking in hot engine bay air.

Make a new induction aimed from the fog light holes or just behind the bumper somewhere up to the airbox, will be a lot more beneficial than any pod filter setup and only cost as much as whatever panel filter you buy. The flexi pipe you can use as your new induction is like $2.

On the off chance that you still want a pod filter, SuperCheap Auto have pod filter adapter kits. Couple that with some stainless piping and a pod filter with a silicone clamp or two and you;re done. Probs looking at $150ish for a good pod filter and all the rest.

i think i've got one laying around here you can have if you adament on getting one but they are crap (i don't recomend them) i'm running one now not out of wat but out of need i physically could not run an airbox i will be going back to an airbox VERY soon thats how much i hate them. as far as making a CAI just tear out the bit that horse shoes back up under the headlight and your done.

Not exactly a pod filter but many many MANY years ago I used to have a 76' Celica which I did a twin-cam engine swap. Like the pic below it had twin carbies with short filters, wasn't very fast but OMG it sounded fantastic with the air intake suction.

BTW my Celica was British Racing Green! Such a great RWD coupe in it's day!

As for the performance thingo, that's not entirely true. It can actually make a difference in engine performance. Just cause MCM did a video on it and their results weren't that outstanding doesn't mean they're not that good. On some engine setups, they're almost required. The stock airbox on some vehicles doesn't suck in enough air under heavy load/on a modified set up which is where the pod helps (but obviously not a SCA one).

As for our builds, I doubt any of us would need a pod, but they do add a nice throttle note. You can get any pod filter, I'm sure brand doesn't mean anything (again, we're not driving Supercars so quality doesn't matter too much). I have a SCA one myself, and an adapter I bought off Res for $10. Sounds kinda nice, but I may be chucking my stock airbox back in however so the adapter could be for sale
