Petrol Use in the Ce's

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what your Ce's are using per tank and how much its costing you to fill up..
I've got a 4 door 2001 Ce lancer with the 1.8L motor and to be honest it doesnt seem to be great on petrol at all.. Never has..

I dunno if its just me but im thinking they've made a very small tank with a large fuel gauge (GLI model) and i can literally watch it go down..

I used half a tank which i recorded on the trip meter and only got 150km out of it and out of a full tank if i push it till dry it'll barley make 300 km's..

Is everyones the same as this..?

Thanks Dane

Are you flogging the crap outta it? or stop start/hill usage??

If im on the freeway ill get near 550kms from full to almost orange light.

it depends on on how you drive.
My CE will get 600km out of a tank on the highway or 450km on the streets.

1998 CE lancer coupe
i get 350km average (400km if i push it) per tank using BP 95 octane

Yeh, i drive it pretty reasonably.. Definetly not too hard. I'm thinking because its the four door (larger) and the tank seems to be very small with added weight sub/rims ect

Mine averages out to be 450km, i've got to just under 600km, and had to use a jerry can to get to the servo. Yes im not a CE but I have a 4g94 which is close to the 93.

I have a wagon, with sub/rims/toolbox, and i wouldnt say i drive the most conservative, but still get way more than 350km in the city!

my car would have more added wieght then yours can almost garuntee it. cars are similar wieght and tanks are same size

i get roughly between 300-350km on my MR a tank with city driving and gunning it here and there using V-power fuel. If your geting only 150km per tank that very bad definitely have an issue you could either have a fuel leak somewhere, dirty injectors, old/inaccurate oxygen sensor or simply need to your driving habits.

I get 300 miles out of my 4g93e dohc.......i find the gauge is not linear on the ce due to the geometries of the tank- 1st and last quarter last ages.

Doesn't sound like an accurate way of measuring guys.

Instead, fill the tank to full. Reset your trip meter. Drive. The next time you fill up, fill to full tank and note down the km on your trip meter and divide that by how many litres you put in. This will give you km per litre - more accurate for you guys to compare.

Incidentally, topped up last night. 315km for 27l = 11.6km/l. Not exactly good but considering how hard I drive, the additional weight and boost. I'm pretty pleased with my tuner.

You must have an American lancer

yeah haha..ill see how i go i get about 300 out of it when i push to the end.. I haven't let the red light come up yet maybe thats why im not using as much as i could.. When does it come up? how many liters does it have left in it when the light shows? Thanks for your input

I find my petrol lights comes on as i have 10 litres left to a tank,
My car sees the limiter daily and ill still get about 500-550 km to about 40-45 litres, but i have a 1.5 litre :(

The weird thing is that its an ADM delivered 03 coupe right, speedo is in kms and odometer is in miles....and it hasnt been tampered with. Took a trip to the mechanic to realise why my consumption was so bad, fuel filter was changed everything was rolling smoothly etc etc...we then later found out it was reading miles.

From what I heard Mitsus have a tendency to ping so I recommend running 95+. I run 98 myself.

I agree with you dex, I have noticed that the first and last quarter take longer than the two middle ones so its not just you!
