Noob Question: Speakers

I'd believe they are actually 125W RMS. Audiopipe back in the day made huge bass, but definitely not the best clarity. Problem with going big powered speakers is that yes they will go loud, but you need an absolute *poo*load of power to get them to go loud. As others have said, go listen to a few different sets of speakers in your local audio store. The thing with speakers is that power figures do not indicate the quality of the sound.
For example, you can get a set of Kenwood speakers at around the 70RMS mark for about $100, but Rockford Fosgate Punch splits are rated to 60 RMS, cost $350+ and sound a million times better. Prob a better example is Alpine type X 6.5" Pro splits = 100W RMS - cost: $999, Alpine type R 6.5" splits = 110W RMS - Cost: $349. Bigger is not always better for speakers.
For a budget speaker, I would suggest Clarion for good mix between price, SQ and Bass. Never been a fan of fusion, Kenwood and Pioneer can be OK, but you've gotta get the good ones, theyre cheap ones are, well, cheap lol. If you can stretch to the SRQ range of splits from Clarion, they retail for 169, and often come on special for 100-129, I think you'd be happy.

I wouldn't go near clarion personally. I had a $200-300 set of Clarion splits and they were rubbish. Even Alpine type s is cheaper and far better IMO.
