Hey man! Welcome to the forum. There's sooooo much info here. For almost everything. So let us know what kind of mods you're interested in and we'll tell you which ride threads to trawl through. What area of Melb are you from?
We have a meet this Saturday (25th) at Doncaster pancake parlour At 9.30am - like a lancer / former lancer owners cars and coffee.

Hey there! Thanks for the welcome as for mods im currently Not To sure.. i currently have the 4g15 I would love to do the dohc swap with an exhaust when the timing belt is due I know the 1.8 is a better swap for outright power, but ive taken a liking to the old 1.5 ( depending if i can even get my hands on a head. other then that maybe some lowering springs and a set of decent wheels Few interior changes nothing to major Ill think of more when the time comes!

Im currently still on my l plates If i get some free time ill see if i can get down there! heres some pictures of my lil boring red lancer hehe

Hi and welcome to the forum, good model the 99 vrx coupe, heaps of stuff/mods available for the old CE's. Plenty of info on the threads here for anything your thinking of doing, if not just ask? Don't forget to post some pics!

The 1.5 is heaps of fun, nothing like a good amount of Limiter all the time. The problem with the DOHC head besides finding one is that then you're stuck with a sort of custom motor, trying to find timing kits to suit can be a pain etc.
1.8 is a cheaper and better swap but you could also do a 2l with a 4g94, it requires a lot of mixing and matching with 4g93 parts but an awesome combo if you're going to keep it NA.

I would absolutely suggest doing brakes and suspension. (Including front strut brace and rear sway bar) first. It's not all about power if you can stop and turn at anything - I had a 1.5l automatic and my car used to keep up with heaps of people through the hills because I had awesome suspension and brakes. It makes everything more enjoyable. I'd also suggest hunting down an MR steering wheel or FTO or alike. They have three spokes and will feel more solid than that one while also keeping it nice and OEM. / you can go aftermarket if you're into that too. It's all about making the experience better IMO. Not nessecarily just power.
Especially if you're on your L's you'll enjoy so much more if you're able to stop and turn better than all your mates when you get your p's. Makes a huge difference.

If you're not too far I'm sure someone will be happy to give you a lift to the meet! (Can vouch for everyone coming being a top bloke)

Hey there thanks for the reply I was looking into the 1.8 Swap but i wasnt sure about it i thought about trying the Method of using the 1.5 distributor in the 1.8 as i dont have the space to get a complete donnor car atm Ill have to see how it goes

As for brakes and suspension no doubt ill be looking into id like to convert the rear to disc brakes in time aswell and deffintly on the lookout for an MR steering wheel. thats the only thing i dislike about my VRX at the moment.
