Need help deciding on a headunit

Just gota be lucky you get a good one i guess.
some people say they are good and some dont. and they have a 2yr warranty so that's good.

I looked at that website but shipping is way too expensive.

Does anyone know if Boss is any good?

Really depends on your budget. These ones you have posted seem alright. All of them are pretty much the same as each other. You just need to get the one with the most features!

Also Boss Audio is a very good brand. Based in USA, I've heard nothing but good things with their products.

That one looks pretty good! At the end of the day, you're the one paying for it so go with what you like.

+1 spend money and do it right the first time. Kenwood, Pioneer or Eclipse are IMO still the best value for money and quality items around. Save another 2 months and get something worth the $$$.

You serious? Boss Audio used to be the cheapest gear you could buy in the cheapest audio store (Strathfield). They are cheap crap. You might be getting confused with Bose which make decent quality gear.

Yea my bf just said the same thing about Boss, said its crap.

Think I'm just guna stick with Eonon.

I dont wana save up to buy a awesome brand name one. Need my money for other things.

Found a eonon i really like .

Why do you want a screen?
Personally I suggest getting a decent single DIN head unit with no DVD. It'll sound 100 times better for the same price

How did you come up with that

mmmmm nice

yer the price is abit high but u get what u pay 4 and they are really good imo

Pioneer are junk, stay well clear! They can't even make a decent $2000 unit so I wouldnt even think of trusting their cheaper ones (and yes I would unfortunately know firsthand as I didn't listen to an audio installer who reckoned they were junk). Also don't bother with inbuilt GPS as their map upgrades cost more than a standalone unit and who doesn't have a smart phone these days??

I got this unit for my brother for closer to $300 and it's a really sweet deck: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-gps- ... sku-52023/

If you get DAB+ reception up your way I'd seriously consider a unit with a built in tuner (aka digital radio), I love Novanation but sadly have to rely on Internet streaming as we don't have DAB+ here.

Might be worth reading up on this unit: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/car-sound-gps- ... sku-68856/

If you insist on a touch screen unit then you really need to look at a $500+ budget...

Because for $200-300 you can get a decent signle DIN but you'll only get a Yum Cha flip out screen unit. You of all people I would have though would understand cheap poorly made Chinese electronics doesn't equal good sound quality

If the head deck has DVD or not, it makes absolutely no difference to sound quality or features. Every brand can vary between models, I have seen even the top brands come back with silly issues.

There will always be good and bad of every model sold, the difference is some brands come back less than others. IMO, they are the better brands to have.

At the end of the day, I do agree with others, it comes down to budget and priorities. You will never get A-grade audio from a B-grade deck, but will you still get loud music? Yes.

If the deck offers good warranty, then perhaps cheaper may be for you. I would buy with the mindset that if it has flaws, you took that risk. If there is no issues, you scored!

You can still get some decent "higher-end" DVD decks on ebay fairly cheap 2nd hand but in very good condition. Perhaps worth a look?

Just my 2c.

I had a friend who got some DVD cheap DVD player in his car +subs, amps, splits etc. The quality never seemed "up there" considering the level of gear in the car. Eventually he swapped the DVD player/screen for a midrange Sony HU and the sound difference was unbelievable

How do you work that out? JB make next to nothing on most car audio, between 15 and 25% gross profit, which is very small margins. The inflated prices in Australia are due to the importers having substantial markups and and also having to cover taxes to get the items into the country. When I worked for autobarn there were heaps of items that customers could buy overseas, pay the postage and still get it cheaper than the company could buy it for.

So I decided to scrap the idea of getting a cheap DVD unit and bought a normal jvc one instead.

So now my question is.. Who wants to help me put it in?
I don't wana pay to get it installed and I can't do it myself.. I'm not that smart :( lol
