Need creative minds!

Hello AGAIN! I've just got a dilemma which has been playing on my mind over and over again...

I recently had DIY universal power windows installed in my car. They're pretty good but I've come to wits end with the gear part sitting flush with the door card (the white bit you can see in the pictures). Now, this thing also fills the hole nicely and you can see it spinning when you operate said windows, and I really don't like or want it.

I needed them and I just want to fix the filthy hole. If anyone has any creative thoughts of how to cover it up, your help would be orgasmic. I have also, myself, thought of putting tweeters over the top, however to do this I'd have to carve back some of the plastic to fit wires through, plus they could get knocked around a bit, and that also requires me having them wired up which I'm too slack to do and don't really need them at this point.

I'm also planning on getting the door cards retrimmed OR even contemplating buying MR door cards (because I think, from pictures, the recessed part on a manual car door is filled out further thus covering the elephant in the car)... But that's if they are as I think they are and IF there are any in literal existence.

Another problem I have discovered from doing this DIY power windows is that the passenger side window goes down and up slower than the drivers when operated at the same time (by about 2 seconds) and you can hear the motor is struggling and under stress. I had a feel around where the cable runs through the sleeve to lower and raise the windows and narrowed it down to having a sticky substance which is white (inb4stopfapping - because i won't ) but seriously, how would i go about removing the mechanism and removing this white *poo*/regreasing it?

If you have read this far, +1 ganga

hmm, maybe you could put a lid of some sort over it? That might at least stop showing the white bit.
Probably look a bit dodgy after such a clean job though. The install does look nice.

Or maybe you could stick a bit of fabric the same colour as the door trim over it?
Or just something circular you can glue over it without it looking crap
Eh idunno I'm a pretty uncreative bloke

Why not just go to the wreckers and get the two front door cards from a power windows model lancer/mirage? May not be the most creative way but it's going to be the only neat way to do it.

At work we have positioned a flush tweeter over the hole before. Dsnt look to bad, but it covered the hole well. Maybe toss that idea up

yes!

i see it all the time on car sales and ebay, cars with aftermarket power window systems, and they use speaker tweeters to cover the holes, because its both practical and pretty

apart from that get some MR door cards (might be hard to find)

Just put the winder back in.

Wouldnt that mean the winder would spin round when you move the windows up and down?

yes, and it gives your the opportunity to tell your friends you have a magic car!

Wouldn't fit over the sleeve and the hole is really tight (yeah she is)

I've tried to find power windowed mirages and *poo* from wreckers but they're literally impossible. Aswell as this i'd need confirmation on the distance away from the winder as it would grind on the back side of the door card and eventually pop through + excess noise

another approach is to plastic weld some ABS in there high fill prime it and then recover it all in a fabric or paint match it to what ever colour you are currently have in the car... you will have to remove the speaker cover part to do this tho but it is no big deal in re-installing it.

I just spaced that rod back with a few mm so the rod was inside the door card. Has three bolts on it just need to use some spacers which come with the power window kit and get longer bolts.

I painted my door cards and made them smooth so i filled the hole before painting. If i was not going that route would have gone for MR trims for sure.

My finished product which has the switch in the centre console area where the coin slot was.
