MY02.5 CE 4G93 Idle Issue

Hi All,

So, here's my problem. Whenever I start my car and the engine is cold or has been sitting for a while, the motor idles fairly high. (Not sure exactly how high cause of not having a tacho but I reckon it's about 2000 rpm) It eventually drops down when the car is at normal operating temperature and is fine after that. However, does anyone know what might cause this ??? I'm kinda worried about it and can't really afford to spend big on it, just thought I would at least ask. The car has also done a fair amount of km for it's age (Just passed 212,000 and it's only 8 years old) but yeah. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Does it only idle high when cold?
If you start it warm, does it settle to a normal idle?

My friend this is normal car behavior to have choke on when cold, and the revs slowly drop until it reaches normal operating temperature

When I start it warm it settles much quicker but yeah it only does it when it's cold really. It takes a while though like a good 5 mins or so.

That's completely normal and nothing to worry about.
I have only ever seen a few cars which do not have this feature

Natural. Though i get mine heated up quicker by doing a j-turn out of the driver way then fang it around out of the street. Usually heats her up nice and quickly.

That doesnt sound healthy for your car man.

Thanks people :) I don't know if doing a j-turn and then proceeding to rev the guts out it is a good idea for my car seeming it's done 212,000... :p

Yeah it's clearly not good for you car, clearly some people dont understand stupidity when it stares them in the face.

Well I don't know about that, but I do like to think if I respect my car it will respect me :)
