Okay so i have a cg lancer, old engine had a bad miss and exploded, put in a new motor, new fuel pump, but my partner swears my 3ngine is still missing, it hasnt done it while ive been in the car. He has no idea what could be causing the miss. Any ideas?

Missing under idle, under full throttle, under partial/little throttle, going up or down a hill, in the heat or in the cold? Engine age/kms, health?

Doesnt mayter if wngine is hot or cold still does the same, generally when reaching about 70ks is when it misses a beat. 137k on the engine, its running quite rich also.

Hows the spark plugs? How do you know its running rich, is it pumping out black smoke or are you running a wideband O2 sensor or something? Any Check Engine Lights?

Spark plugs have been checked and are fine, its spraying fuel out the exhaust and smells very fuely the past week. Miss was before car staryed running rich. In need of new exhaust though.

How is it even running if its spraying fuel out the exhaust!

I bet you $100 that the "fuel" coming out of your exhaust wont light with a match if you try it lol. Its condensation and exhaust gases (exhaust gas = cat convertor = hydrogen and oxygen amongst other gases) - basically water. You mights mell fuel, but that doesnt mean its rich, there so many other elements at play, such as a bad cat that allows the exhaust to smell like petrol.

Coilpacks all good? No shorting or cuts or anything on the leads? Battery terminals nice and tight?

Interesting... thanks for that bit of info. Terminals and battery are new and in perfect condition. Leads and plugs all new when engine was replaced and have been checked since and they are all good. I dont have anything to check the coil packs. I might buy new ones and see if it helps. Thanks
