hey guys,
i searched around on this forum and i cant seem to find it
i bought a ts magna TB the other day and the plugs are different but everything else is sweet
with the plugs do i just chop the harness off the magna and match it up with me lancer ?
ive got a 1.8 and was pretty pissed that it didnt fit on lol all the trouble of finding one and the plugs didnt match up...
so chop harness and swap ? or something else ?
also what are the main benefits of the TB ? sorry if this is a repost but im stressing out haha

chop loom, and connect it into the stock loom neatly and strong with solder and heat shrink wrap

benefits = +low end power, more acceleration, better flow, +top end from flow

yep id say that will do it, ill be doing the same thing this weekend, was it the 6 pin plug you where having trouble with? there is quite a difference in size.

even the wire gauge is quite different.... so yeah hoping the soldering will solve this issue.
post some pics up here when you give it a go!

well i got my TB off a magna, i cant remember what model exactly, but i test fit it up and didnt have any troubles at all
is it just the blug wont fit, or the wire position in the plug different?

the idle speed control plugs change depending on generation, so does the tps
wires will match to their colour, tps may have 1 spare wire depending on if your new tb has a 4pin or 3 pin sensor

yes both ces, its still a 6 pin just our stock plug has a much closer configuration, and the plug case doesnt fit over the Magna TB socket sleave\

edit: so yea you cant cut away the plastic to make it fit if thats what you were thinking...

ok sweet as so just chop the loom off an all is well ?
gotta go back to the wreckers an get me those plugs lol

one more thing is there anyone that makes an aftermarket manifold ?? or am i better off boreing out the standard one ? if so where an how much will it be ?

thanks heaps again

buying a pre made performance/bored manifold is way too expencive ($1,000++)

best to buy a die grinder and grind out the lip to fit flush with the new TB yourself, will cost you under $100, rather than over 10x that

not a chance i would spend an extra 100 bucks for the TB upgrade, would be a handy tool to have, I have a dramel but could you do it by hand Res?

by hand... lol yeh might take a while tho :p even with a die grinder it takes 15-20mins to get it perfect and flush
(and that was matty's mad skills and he has done a few so obviously he is a bit quicker from experience)

i dont know the exact cost of a die grinder may not be 100, was an abetrary figure to explain how little it cost in comparison to a brand new off the shelf custom manifold
if you know any friends with tools maybe borrow one

there are some cheapies, you only need it on one occasion and the cheap one should do you
need a compressor tho

altho i cant garuntee they come with the right bit to grind a plenum

i think tron got his die grinder for abound $50, then had to buy the bit to bore out the plenum
so its a cheap investment because a little hand grinder like that has a million uses!

yeah yeah i already have a expensive air tool kit? I was just asking for those without tools and on a budget

Lol $100 for a die grinder?!? I can get one for $20, and possibly $30 if it wasn't me :p Not to mention they are good quality. BTW Those eBay ones look like dog poo poo and wouldn't touch them with all the chance they'll brake after a couple of uses, not to mention the tips could disintegrate. So buyer beware on those ones... (and if you want to question me go right ahead, though I work for a company that not only uses em on shift, but sells and imports them.) And tips I wouldn't pay more then a couple of bucks for a tip, and bulk saves you money! /2c Have fun grinding.

lol too many things to do these days to a car haha... i just want a quick upgrade that will have a noticable difference im not in the right boat to spend money for something thats just flashy ive past that stage lol

soo off to wreckers on tuesay an should be all good hopefully.. manifold will wait for now might just get some extractors from henry or something
being on that subject and going off topic for abit :p would the extractors at all change the sound of my car ? i wanna keep it standard throught out just fit up extractors an maybe empty the cat hehe...not really into loud n/a cars... will post some pics up soon once most of it is done thoughh and get everyones opinion

extractors change the sound of the car depending on material (stainless / mild steel /titanium?)
depending on the runner length
and depending on what configuration (4-2-1 / 4-1)

its not really an increase in sound its just different, mine actually got quieter from the headers

dont bother gutting the cat, we honestly dont take well to idiots on here, keep saving and buy a high flow or leave it as is

Regarding the tb upgrade, a tb from a magna TR (ie year 1991-1994?) will line up with the 1.8 pins and all, thats why your having issues. you the tb off the wrong magna

and im assuming that i may of gotten one of the correct magna, this doesnt mean it wont work, it just means you have to fix up the wire positions manually
if you can, check your TB and post up the serial number/model number of yours so i can compare it to mine, i will post mine up when i get home tonight

Ok so I got the harness and everything and I'm more confused then before lol does anyone have like a diagram or so
Something of which wires go where like colours etc... It's only a few wires that are different and I really don't wanna eff anything up lol... I had a look for tr magnas and it had the same harness so I just thought I'll stick to what I have because from search in sure it'll work wel atleast hope so lol so a diagram or chart would be sweet just like blue goes to red or white goes to orange etc etc... Thanks again boys
