Lowering springs

Hey guys, I was looking around at places that lower your car and they all pretty much only lower 2" with super lows. I'm looking around 100mm to lower and needed some help.

Where can I get springs that lower that much? Or
If I bought some kings off ebay and chopped a few coils off is that safe?

Give me some ideas guys, thanks :)

Just looking at your profile pic.

I dont think youll get 100mm. and you def wont get that with normal springs, youll need coilovers. and then youll need to get custom shorter springs or cut them. but no, cutting coils is not safe

Chopping springs is illegal so dont do that, you can have a look at a place like heasemans or kmac. They might be able to help. Im gonna go check out kmac tomorrow actually. So we shall see what happens.

well it's sitting 220mm off ground and wanted around 120mm but don't really want to spend the money on coilovers :/ up to 1000$ 02, vrx is anyone needed to know btw.

What's not safe about cutting springs? My mate said there's nothing really wrong with it :/

Wow, how are you sitting that high? I'm at stock height and 170mm from the ground

if you want that low you would only have 2 options air bag or coil over.
there is no real cheap option as the standard strut would be sitting on the bump stopper.

this is my vrx on 2 inch lowered lovells springs

That looks so dope, but I went to http://www.k-mac.com/pages/springs/springs.htm and they said they do springs at any height :D I'll give them a call see what they say about rolling guards at 100mm drop etc etc

yeah if you want springs that fall out off the seat on full droop go that any height route.
unsafe

kings, pedders, lovells springs in low and if you must superlow in my experience all stay captive at full droop and Ive done heaps of them.
In order to do so they shall add dead coils, coils that once weight is loaded onto them they become dead coils but when at full droop they allow the spring to retain captive in the seat.

If you chop your springs heaps, then jack up your car, the springs fall outta the perchs, because the shocks are way longer than the springs.

How do you satisfy those people that want low but dont have the money or cannot justify spending alot of money on coils? I want coils just cant afford them.

then no low for you.

dont f-ck round with suspension

Coilovers.

The best and only way to get a precise height (without getting custom springs made)

Go to kmacs website they say they can do springs at any height, I'm going to ring them sometime today and get a quote for 100mm drop ;)

Where are you measuring that from?
Remember for it to stay legal the lowest point on the underside of your car must be 100mm or more above the ground.

Now the lowest point on the centre of my car (07 CH) is the exhaust. With stock suspension that is about 160mm from the ground.
so drop 2" = 2x25mm = 50mm and superlows get you very close to being as low as possible. Add some mates in the back and you will be scraping everywhere.

and I agree with everyone else - if you can't afford to do it right, don't do it. That's the biggest reason my suspension is still stock.

F%$k me... If all you are after is low... you don't need freaking coil overs!

If you call up king springs and ask them what they can do, they will suggest the ultra low ( upto a 90mm drop), then last time I checked, they were willing to reset the spring for a lower ride height.

..........Or am I being too practical ? :wtf:
