Lowered suspension information

i recomend coilovers for lowering instead of lowerign springs because if u get springs ur stuck at a set hight or u have to buy different springs for diff hights
whereas coilovers can change as much as they like without buying anything extra

i would say coilovers are better for the person who changes their mind alot and has the $$$
and springs would be a budget lowering option

side note: does anyone know WHY some coilovers are not adr approved?
and does anyone kno for sure if lowering springs are even adr aproved?
 
As suggested by me earlier, manufacturers must comply with in-country testing (like helmet manufacturers... there is a bunch of testing required before they will give out ADR compliance). Sure you can put any coilover in your car, but without the compliance, or engineering certification, you run the risks as mentioned before.

Coilovers have so much variance in build quality, its really difficult to know if you're getting a top product or a dog... Sure TEIN are great quality, but not many on here can stretch out to $1700+ dollars, for capability that they'll likely not use..

yes, springs are ADR approved as long as they meet the state/territories minimum mandated ride height (for example; in QLD, you must have 100mm minimum. They test this with a 100mm diameter wheel on a pole. Anything strikes, you get a defect notice). Also, they must be built in endorsed factories, employing the correct materials, build quality, etc met under the appropriate ISO standard (such as:ISO-9001:2008) for their sector. You can't just wind up your own spring out of round bar....

They use 62 HRC+ steel (on the Rockwell scale), then they shot peen the steel to guarantee the stress loading over the whole area. They solid scrag test the spring (if you have never seen this, check you tube or the web, its cool).

Springs may not be cut, as previously mentioned.

You may recommend coilovers, but maybe temper it with a warning.. YOUR recommendation, albeit voracious, may not be legal or authoritative!!
