lovells super low springs for our lancers

hey guys, i've been looking around the net for reviews of lowering springs from lovells but havent found any.
anyone here have any experience with this brand?
are they like king springs? how's the ride?

thanks guys!

would be very similar to king springs i suspect, SL's on kings are pretty stiff, ride is okay,
personally i prefer coils, lowering springs on shocks tend to have too much bound, which makes them bouncy over large bumps

even here in auslancer, there's not much to be said. hahahaha
thanks res
i might be able to grabe me a set of lovells super lows for just 100. only 2 months used and still has warranty.
might just go ahead and try them coz i missed out on nice as king springs

i have some king superlow rear springs, $30+post and they are yours if you exhaust ur other options

Are they blue? I'm pretty sure I had them in my old lancer, they were already on the car when I bought it. Ride was good no different from kings.

Kings and Lovells have competitive specifications... So ride would not be much different.

I chose Kings, because they were the first Australian-made spring for CJs, and they were half the cost of Tein, etc

Struts don't 'bound' too much (do you mean rebound Res?), but they can wreck the struts a fair bit quicker, due to the limiting of the spectrum of travel used... That said, good race cars still exist with springs over struts, but your $50 each strut is not the same as a rally or race-spec Ohlins type adjustable rebound/compression unit... (apart from being legal, compared to illegal coilovers! :p)

@tryg, no i did mean bound, i find that my superlows because they sit lower, rebound is less (as expected) but bound (explanding) still goes as far as stock height

like this pic here, the coils in the back have relatively low bound (expansion) which keeps them from feeling like your floating on bumpy roads and keeps the full wieght of your car from bouncing around, also keeps it flatter as compression and expansion have very set limits
whereas the fronts have shocks and springs... massive bound = to stock bound, the springs dont limit it at all and on large bumps it really bounces the car around and traction goes all wibbly
(and these are new shocks not the dead ones)

Funny... I did not find any of those problems with the CJ. If anything, my grip levels have massively increased over stock, but the car is rightly more 'tail-happy' with super-lows (as is expected).

Rather drift the back, than understeer off the road!

Agree?!

agreed, i would still say that the spring/shocks are an improvement on stock handling, but i would only rate them a 4.5/10 compared to the 8/10 i would give the tiens
and stocks are 2.5/10

not having had the Teins, I cannot comment.. But, at least with King Springs (the company) you can specify, if you want to pay a little extra. So, you could have Tein performance (if you know the precise specs you want), at about half the price!

great info guys! thanks. yes, the springs are the blue ones.

specs on their site says that it lower the car 45mm - 65mm, king springs lower from 50mm-60mm.
you reckon there would be a significant difference with the ride height?

65mm... I think not. But, if it does, then make sure you get a decent alignment (and be prepared to fork out for another $100 worth of camber aligning bolts, as this amount of low with eff-up your camber).

i have a set of lovells SL in my CG and i found about a 2 inch drop from factory. (see my other post for pics)
the springs are blue (wanted blue to match blue paint on car)
and have been told they are a bit softer then the king springs.

really, the specs are almost identical...

either or, both are an improvement over stock...

great info guys!! thank you very much.

quick question to the gurus as i am confused.

is it okay to put in 16" rims with 205/40/r16 tyres?

it would be around 1/2 inch smaller in total diameter compared to the stock 14's.
i've read around that i should put 205/45/r16.
i just want to hear more info about these.

thank you

ooks! found what i was looking for.

overall diameter cant go +15mm or -26mm

with 205/40/r16 the difference is -25.7

so i really have to go with 205/45/r16

thank you!!
