looking for some info planing on buying a ce

hi , new to this forums but not Mitsubishi , has a fairly modified Mitsubishi scorpion , and a Rare tj sports wagon ,
my girl Friend love the look of the ce lancers and we are looking to get one for her ,
would like to know some of the good point and bad points about this car, from the people that own them
and what to look for when buying one .
 
straight out buy an Mr model.
comes with all the extra's i.e. power windows, power mirrors etc
the larger motor the coupes came out with.
a sexy a$$ black interior.
 
Hey mate they are great cars, reliable as anything, cheap to run. Timing belt is changed every 100k at the major service and is the most costly factor this into the price if it's nearing 100 or 200k.
 
super reliable, i have to admit the MR Interior looks soooo much better than the GLI but it depends what your price range. The 98-02 models had some issues with rust in the roof so just make sure you inspect it properly before handing over the cash. CEs i rekin look the best out of all but the EVO lancers and NEVER die. My friend has had one that has done 440,00Kms and still going strong on the original engine (with a turbo added later). lots of them have been thrashed a bit but hey, they are awesome P plater cars and soooo easy to mod.
 
sweet thanks guys , still on the hunt for one dont mind doing a bit of mech work so hoping to find something a little cheaper and build it up as she likes to customize her rides
how strong are the 5 speeds and clutch ?

dunno about clutch, but the manual box can take some serious abuse and still last out the life of the car in most cases
 
well we just picked up a 98 ce GLXI 4 door in white , some door damage but nothing that cant be painted , did notice on the drive back the speedo is out 10kmh over 100 , is this common for these cars ?

what size wheels does this new GLX have ?
 
yeah if small wheels are on it, it would read fast than you are going and slower if the wheels are huge
Mind disclosing how much you paid
 
saw a very smart 4 door ce today , white in colour with an evo front bar and high rear wing plus chrome mag rims and lowered nice. actually he saw me too.
