Light leveling

Hey guys,
Just wondering, since I installed my HID's, are our lights adjustable to push the beam down further, so it doesnt blind anyone?
And if not, if I were to adjust the fitting myself, would I have to angle the bulb up or down? Just because of the refraction/reflection from inside the lamp, that if I angle the bulb downwards that it will reflect the light up even further.
Thanks.

Its not too bad really lol. Ive only had 3 people flick their hi-beams at me.
But thought Id be nice and fix it up anyway.

Do you still have reflectors? or did you get projectors aswell?

If you still have reflectors it will always blind oncoming cars with glare as the source of the light in the HID bulb is a different distance away from the base that the halogen. And so the reflector is now at a different focal length, and wont focus your cars light into the beam it was designed.

So they will still flash you even if you turn them down. Best bet is fit projectors. That way you atleast have the correct beam, the only way they are illegal is not having washers/wipers and auto leveling fitted. Which is miles better than reflectors.

this.

fit projectors or take out ur hids until u can fit them
"theretrofitsource" for custom retro-fit kits, these require a bit of work

but seriously you have a CE projectors are easy as to find for them, search "mirage projector" on ebay heaps of them for sale, they may cost a bit, but thats the price u gotta pay to have HIDs and not be hated by other motorists

Might go for the retro fit. I was wanting to go for black angel eyes, but might be different and stay stock and paint the inside indicator area black like josh's old lancer.

it will cost more to retrofit with risk damaging ur casing + the months of labour getting it to fit an work like it should
u wont be able to put ur hid bulbs in the projectors either, usually they have slim slot in setup, whereas ur bulbs would have the h4 plate behind the bulb

but in saying that u wont be able to put them in the US halo projectors as they use the H3 bulb from memory

sigh. lol.
So what are my options then, and a ballpark figure on costing?
Because I want to fix it up.

Just get new bulbs if need be, they aren't anywhere near as dear as the full kit and you can try flog the old bulbs off on eBay again...

Yeah Im thinking of selling off the bulbs again. But Im just trying to figure out what my best options would be.

i hate kents that hi beam me but i think its because my car bounces it looks like im hi beaming them :S thats what im told anyway

Since you already have the HID bulb+ballast etc.

You want this.
http://www.theretrofitsource.com/produc ... cts_id=221
with RHD cutoff, H1 bulb of temp your choice, and a H4 adapter plate.
($145)

and this
http://www.theretrofitsource.com/produc ... ucts_id=81
to suit H4
($25)

Set of headlights from wreckers
($40???)

Can of black spray paint
($4)

Open the headlights using your preferred method, (hot air gun, oven, boiling water (my personal fav)
Remove bulb and bulb reflector
Mask off large reflecting surface (if you want to keep the chrome)
Paint the inside of the housing black.
Put the Projector housing in from the front and screw on using H4 adapter plate and nut thingy.
Clean the glass.
Put glass back on and seal up.
put H1 HID bulb in.
put headlights in lancer.
attach the H1>H4 harness to headlights
attach the H1>H4 harness to factory wiring.
turn on HIDs and marvel at sexyness!

I think that hate is both ways Aaron... maybe it tells you something about your non-leveling, illegal and annoying lights...

Just a thought.

Damn you got me interested now lol. So wait, it looks like Im buying more lights, Guessing I can sell these then?
Also, It sounds good to spray it black, but wont the light need something to reflect off? (edit: Im guessing, since they are projectors, they wont need anything to reflect from... lol)
Any idea where I can buy some new headlights? So I know they are new, no fading/yellowing plastic, sealed well. $200 on ebay for a pair, so looking to see if theres anything cheaper.
Tempted to just use my lights, but theres probably a chance that Ill stuff it up.
Also, whats this about the boiling method to open the lights? Explain :D

those projectors are pimp
