So this is happening now.

Car was cold on start-up, this started pretty much straight away. No feet on the pedals, only load on the engine was the parker lights being on. Car was parked in P with the handbrake on. Hasn't happened before today either. Thoughts?

looks like hunting possibly idle contorl motor related good thing you switching it out in a week aye?

agreed

Just in time I guess. Hopefully it doesn't fark itself until then.

Mine might have the same issue, in sympathy.

Started a couple of weeks after Rigby (they week before Christmas) it started having trouble at idle, at first it kept stalling. Wasn't fun in a packed car park during the Christmas shopping. I adjusted the idle and now at times it idles at 1500rpm or more.

Hope its not the idle control motor and I don't have the money to swap out the engine for the M21 yet.

Yep, car needs a throttle body, better change the engine

Logic. I cant find it anywhere

It might just need a clean, I'm working on it...

Just interesting me and Rigby got the same problem at about the same time and we both have/had a replacement 4G93 DOHC standing by.

Yeah changing the engine because of a minor problem like this is like cutting off your leg because you have a hangnail. My goal this coming year is handling, if it requires a new engine at some point I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

Yeahhhh this problem is gone now haha. Unless it resurfaces after the tcu has power

I dont understand, you have a 93P sitting there and it even has a throttle body on it, whats stopping you just swappin the throttle bodies over??

I might do that if the current engine needs a new one.

Just swap it over, if it doesn't idle funny then problem solved, its 2 water hoses, 2 plugs and 4 bolts to pull the throttlebody off

You are in the perfect position right now with another engine sitting beside you to do some problem solving, so instead of posting up "I don't know what the problem is" why don't you try and fix the issue

I have done this many times and have taught myself everything I know

93P and 93 DOHC are the same, both small square plug, the SOHC used the long rectangle plug, easy to change the wiring and resolder

If parts are interchangeable I'll consider that as plan B, right now it might just need a cleaning and I need to see the mechanic who worked on it last to check what they did at the service a few months back.

So your plan A is waste money for someone else to undo a clamp and use a rag to wipe out your throttle and have potentially nothing happen? When you have ANOTHER throttle body sitting there? Wish you were one of my customers, I'd get my car finished so much quicker with your money flowing to me.

Why would you use that as plan B, if you put the other throttle body in it will help fault find; prove that the original part is at fault.
