Ideas for a project car?

s*** sorry wrong tab i copied haha, awkies. With the 94, what is the mivec head to put on it, just so i know what im looking for, 92?

dont bother, its a large cost that u can spend on better things, and it will send u well over budget

matty has successfully built a beast of a NA94 still using the sohc head
it has plenty of power, and more to come when tuned

i recomend 4g94
cheap, easy to work on, parts are readily available, plenty of torque from a long stroke 2L and some parts from 4g93 and 4g92 bolt on

matty has built one on quite the budget, its very very good

Having seen matty's car I totally endorse the idea of the 4G94 :D He seemed like he was hauling :p :)

And could theoretically make some more with a dohc head which isn't too much FMU.

From the looks of it, a 6a12 swap looks easier than the 94 for the power/cost ratio, as im not 100% keen on working an engine much as i have no idea what i would be doing.

Where you getting the figures from? 4G94 would be only $400 for engine/box, then everything else bolts up, plug in ECU or use a 4g94 engine loom and splice it to the CE's interior loom. I'd say you can do a 4G94 swap for less then 1.5k which would include changing the rego to 2L.

As I suggested to you before, in my honest opinion one of your best starting bases for what you want would be a Proton M21 or a satria gti. Probably more the M21 because it will be a fair bit cheaper. Can pick them up for about 2-3000, and then you have a 4g93 WITH DOHC as stock. None of the mitsubishi CE's came with a dohc in Aus. Then you have a great engine with 100+kw from stock, which is more than the 94kw a stock 4g94 will give you. It also has the recaro interior standard. If you find a nice example of one of these then you can focus on doing the brakes, suspension, and some bolt on engine mods for a very nice budget track project. After all, the Proton M21 is an improved lancer coupe. Could even swap the hood, front bar and grille so that it looks the same as a lancer. Down the track you can also do a GSR engine swap quite easily, and they go for cheap, much cheaper than a GSR for a CE.

Or you can use that money to buy a b18c civic and blow all the above away

Very true, plus they come with rear 260mm discs stock unlike the drums in lancers and mirages, hence less money on brakes, more on engine mods = g force

There are plenty of options, and Ian's M2/Gti satria idea is a good one as well.

In the end your it's your choice, and we all have our ideas on what a perfect project car is, just need to find your niche.

Don't be butthurt skimpy, its the truth.

There is a stock as a rock gti satria locally for 3k. As far as i can tell nothing at all wrong with it.
