Help with Aux audio and PID Codes

Hi all,
Please take it easy, this is my first post here lol.

I have an 07 VR CJ model. This was my first ever brand new car which I purchased when my previous car was written off in a hail storm.

I could have gone with the Rockford Fosgate stereo, but at the time I couldn't afford the additional cost. And now I'm having buyers remorse haha.

I currently stream music via Google Music on my Galaxy S3 4G with a FM Transmitter. Whilst it is convenient, it's not ideal as the reception drops out pretty bad when going through built up areas.

What I'd like to do find a way to run a 3.5mm audio cable into the Aux in on the standard head unit. But for the life of me I cannot find details on how to do this for my model Lancer. Everything I see is for the later model ES, but I'm not sure if it is the same or not.

Is there anyone who could provide some advice/directions it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I use the torque app on my phone for some data logging and displays etc. I'd like to provide the PID Codes to the app developer so that we might be able to gain some more functionality in the app, if anyone has access to the PID Codes that would be awesome!

Cheers,
Mick

Re: Help with Aux audio and PID Codes

my ES came with an aux in from factory, 09 model, not optioned,
i replaced it with a fascia kit and kenwood double din touchscreen, that honestly seems the easiest method of a decent audio setup.
all up cost me 300 self installed.
i dont recall the exact setup but the aux cabling connected to the factory head unit via the factory loom, i would imagine your car would at least support the wiring

Re: Help with Aux audio and PID Codes

Yeah, agreed ^

Buy a double din fascia and an aftermarket headunit, that way it will look nicer and have more functionality.
Look into buying the steering wheel controls aswell, all the wiring is already there, but you will need an adaptor if you do buy an aftermarket HU.

I have the factory steering wheel controls already, I was hoping to keep the standard head unit as I don't have the spare cash lying around for an after market unit (currently saving for a honeymoon).

sus out factory wiring guides then and see what you can do, you may have to splice an auxiliary cable into the appropriate wiring in the harness.

Re: Help with Aux audio and PID Codes

Sorry, use that guide then once you have the cable run, to get into Aux mode, you will need to hold down the 'CD' button for like 5 sec I think? Then that switches you to Aux mode.

Very good guide on how to do it.

Not sure if you have to be a member or not though.
That's exactly what I was looking for. Cheers!
I'll give it a go.

Now just for those PID Codes. Hopefully someone is a bit of a tech geek and might have them.
