does anyone no the stock exhaust size..

looking into upgrading extractor and exhaust but not sure what is factory size and wats to big

would a 2inch system be big enough and would that bolt to a 4g15 extractor from henry

thx

henrys extractors go from teh engine up to the cat converter. A 2" to 2.25" system is perfect if you plan on only light mods, 2.5-3" is for the turbo route.

I have hens extractors, and a 2" axle back system, and its a lot more freeflowing and feels better then stock.

stock size pipe is 1.6" i think, maybe 1.75"

if i was to attach a cannon to the end should i make it bigger then the pipe or just keep the 2" all the way throught

A lot of people arent fans of cannons.

I think it would be more performance-boosting if you upgraded the exhaust piping from the cat convertor to the end, and then put a cannon on, but a LOT of people just get it welded onto the end of the pipe, its really up to you and how much money you have to spend.

In my opinion, 2.25" from the cat back, and put a nice sports muffler instead of the stock muffler at the rear with any exhaust tip of your choice

Cannons are normally like 4inch tips or something ridiculously huge. My advice, dont get a cannon. Just get a 2inch muffler like the redback ones on ebay.

Sorry dude you ruined it with the cannon comment. You were on the right track with extractors + catback combo, but a cannon on a 1.5 N/A makes ears bleed.

i no i did, was trying to get a rough size of what would get attached to the end,

c the cannon has a 2" inlet and a 3" outlet so i was thinking that it wouldn't be so bad

Magnaflow or Lukey muffler if you want to do it right, Redback if you want a cheaper option....

2" piping should suffice, I am pretty sure that's what my 2L CJ has and its more than good enough for it so it will be fine for a 1.5L. Just remember the more free flowing you make your exhaust can increase max power but it tends to cause a loss in low-mid torque which is the part you use most of the time around town.

I had a Cannon on a car in the past and it was droney on the Freeway and lost alot of it's low-mid torque, so that combined with tending to rev it out a bit more increased my fuel consumption. WOuld I get a cannon again? No!

Also if you have enough coin get Henry's extractors and then get a high-flow cat, resonator and muffler all in 2".....

I had some what of a cannon (it was a stainless oval muffler) on my Lancer, preferred it to the aftermarket sports muffler I had on my Mirage - but the Mirage only had a cat back and the Lancer had the whole thing done.

I would recommend 2" as a maximum, and use a resonator if you want to go a straight through muffler. Cannons get a bad rep from idiots who buy them from Autobarn and then take them to the nearest exhaust shop to get fully sicked, no talk of making it sound at all good. But if I were to do it again on my new Lancer I would probably go a sports muffler. But I won't because it's auto..

im getting a catback, but tbh im doing it for the wrong reasons. i only really want the sound, and since i have a kit, the stock pea-shooter look is ruining it. 2" piping to a suitable non-cannon tip. whats the deal with hi-flo catalysts? and tbh i wouldnt really like lose my mid-range torque, as i tend to shift at about 3-4k revs
oh also, Tee it off for a tip on both sides (only coz it suits the bar) OR run 2 pipes, but i dont want to pay a fortune :)
need opinions please?
