Factory airbox resonators delete

Ok so was to busy painting todaty to take out resonator but drilled holes in bottom of it with paddle drill bit. Cant say I've noticed any extra induction noise though

Where did you hear doing that would improve it? All that would've done is allow extra crap inside the box, hopefully you didnt drill any on the engine side of the filter.

lol, u wont unless u remove the whole resonator system, its still dimming the sound, and any sound that is there is being directed out the holes to the ground
remove the whole reso box and leave the approx 3" hole thats in the filter box there and it will make a sound difference, but it will sound crap and hollow cos its a massive echo-ey box
if u want growl look elsewhere into pods or smaller less echoed setups

Ok, so i have removed the entire resonater system which was extremely tricky and took a few hour mind you I took no body parts off. Have replaced with 110mm ducting pipe running to under front bumper. Looks very cool and is fairly well hidden and seems to have improved powerband, can definately feel it pulling hard from 3500-4000 rpm though still has flat spot over 6k.

Most Lancers will have a deadening of the torque curve after 6,000rpm, because that's where the engine potential basically ends... It's not an F1 or two-stroke whipper snipper... You aint going to see 15,000rpm anytime soon!

Its just such a small useable rev range, the car pulls from 3500-6000 then its all over. Have definately got some serious improvements with the CAI though, lloking forward to getting an exhaust to match it.

Change gears ????? Then do it again.

4-2-1 extractors will give you bottom end, i know it got rid of the powerband around mid RPM on mine.

Yeah exhaust is going to be my next mod. I reset my computer today and it really helped make it more responsive, feels like the CAI works better cept now at idle it ranges from 400 to 1000rpm and has increased the induction noise.

Idle has been fixed now, must just have been computer adjusting itself but it chugs gas now like theres no tomorow I dont see how people say this improves fuel economy.

nah I didnt touch it is still running the factory airbox as well. Think gas usage might be because I dont have my rear muffler bolted in, makes it sound like vtec/screamer pipe after 4k. Probly gonna get k n filter this week, do you think this will make difference over paper filter?

Yeah I just popped in the best kn filter I could find for the stock box MASSIVE improvement. Think of it this way with a paper filter it's like trying to breath through a straw. Also when you get your new filter pull out the baffle in the wheel arch and kick it as far away from your car as possible then run a pipe into your wheel well or front bumper and there you go Cold air intake.

That what I did bro used 4 inch ducting and hung it under my bumper looked mean. To bad I dont own a lancer anymore... Never got to put in a KN filter.

Ah that's a shame. What you driving now days? I'm only scratching the surface of what I can do to my car. I want more performance without spending money!! If only there were such a thing lol.

If only!... D:
money+time+more time+and more time+more money+planning+sticking to plan+good brands+custom+neatness+attention to detail+more money again = good car build
(legit formular there :p )

with that "custom cold air intake" and the rear muffler removed, no spare tyre, light weight wheels and no air con I had alot of people really suprised with the performance of my car.
