Factory airbox resonators delete

Hi guys
Does anyone have a DIY guide on how to remove the airbox resonator? I can see the bex but dont have any clue as to how to take it off?

are you talking about the small box on top of the air pipe just before the TB, if so loosen the clip and pull it up. but you will need to plug the hole

the airbox resonator is a small raised chamber after the air box ....its held on by a C clamp, unscrew with a philips head screw driver, pull it off. Now you'll need to fill the hole with something - a coke bottle lid fits perfectly and if you paint it black you would never know it was suppose to have something coming out of there :) what i did

ur better off leaving it in there, even though it looks dumb.

only time i wouldnt bother having one is if u have a full on custom air intake.

a pod filter doesnt count.

I was talking about the cold air intake feed to the factory airbox. It has a large box down by the left wheel well and I want to take it off. Also tossing up drilling holes in bottom of the airbox.

Why would you drill holes in the bottom of the air box... that's not going to do anything productive. In terms of the res, if its the 4g15 you need to take the main box out to get access to the first two bolts. Then jack the car up and get under the car to take out the last bolt near the horn. Think that was the only 3 holding it in.

i took 2 of my major baffles off on my intake on the weekend & WOW what a difference but they were pretty bit & from memory when i took the baffle off on my old lancer it did nothing

would take alot to feel any mod in your old lancer

no, you can reach it under neath, might need a socket extension and a uni drive.

if you cant get it, cutting out the bottom of the box and the front will do a similar job

Definately gonna give it a go this saturday and see what I can do. Ill keep you posted on how it works out.

its easy as. 3bolts hold it in. one in your engine bay then that part pulls out from up top.
next you get underneath there is 2 bolts to undo underneath.
one near the horn - if you got a small socket or even better ratchet spanner its easy to pull out.
then one at the back of the box near the wheel arch.
just falls out then

has an educated guess, it takes about 15-30 mins to get it off first time

must remove headlights, thats a start

should be 2 screws , 1 it each wheel well., 4 clips 1 under each headlight and 2 down the bottom of the bar in the center attached to the radiator support

u dont have to take headlights off wtf i remember i did mine i just jacked the front up and eventually found all the screws 10 mins max .

u need to remove ur headlights to get to the screws to take the bar off (which is the route he is taking)
