Exhaust for 2.4L CH

Hey guys,

Im looking at upgrading my exhaust on my 2.4L CH and I'm not quite sure about what options to do.

Im thinking at the moment of just doing 2" catback to a 2.5" sports exhaust with a resonator. Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations, knowledge etc. I want it to sound more like a rumble with a nice note, rather than a sloppy wet fart :).

Cheers.

2.5" catback with a twin tip welded onto a lukey/hurricane/magnaflow muffler, or just the muffler with no twin tip. Just don't get a cannon, that's where your wet farts come from. Also if you really want to get rumbles going you'll need a full exhaust, not just a catback.

Agreed with the above post 2.5"is the best Lukey ultra flow muffler is a mean sound without it sounding like the wet fart in a tin shed sounds really meaty...
I used the RPW 4-1 extractors whichh hasd the 44mm they were great although most preferred the 41mm extractors the 44 gave me better track times

You'll need to flash the ECU to eliminate any CEL.
Some 2.4L have 2 cats, depending on their date of manufacture. One on the manifold and one just after the flex pipe. Agreed though, go full exhaust,
RPW's 4-1 (deleting the manifold cat), set up the sports cat after the first O2 sensor (anything after 2005 will have 2 sensors, one to monitor engine and the other to monitor your cat). Then reprogram. Without the reprogram it should cost between $800-$1200.
Shoot us some pics when you're done!

Hey guys,

Thanks for all the feedback. Unfortunately atm my car is having some engine light problems (4th time this month). Mechanic ssays the error code on the computer is for the 02 sensor, (which have both been replaced), yet i still seem to get the engine light on after about 2000k. This also means that I'm having some power problems as the 4g69 throttle body is automatically restricted when the engine light comes on.

So until these issues are fixed, its just stock as a rock for me. Hopefully they will be fixed soon and we can get some rumble-in-the-jungle going on!

Car is an 06 model with 130,000. I thought it might be the cat, but i think i replace both o2 sensors again just to be sure. Otherwise, getting a new catback exhaust might fix the problem anyhow.

Have you disconnected the battery waited a few minutes reconnected the battery and then restarted the car. It seems like that you may need to reset the ECU.
If this does not fix it also look at the intake sensor carefully remove it from intake and clean it with a sensor cleaning fluid could have a small amount of dirt dust build up this can also throw out a CEL and have the car go into limp mode.
When the O2 sensors were replaced were they the correct ones?
Gotham, with getting the ECU re flashed do you know of anyone in Australia that has done this successfully ? Would like to know more information.

Genuine and new O2 sensors only. I did the battery trick when my CEL came on, lasted about 1000km and came on again. Needed front O2 sensor. Havent had any troubles since. Voltage spikes tend to affect the O2 sensors as well, so make sure your battery is good.

I'd also be interested in the ECU reflash. And can anyone recommend a reliable cat-back system that is fairly cheap? I can go custom made but prefer working on it myself and have no welding experience. So a cat-back that actually fits would be nice.
