Re: Ralliart Lancer production slowed/ceased

Yer i read there are no more EVO's, they are stopping to make electrics/hybrids....My dreams of being an EVO11 owner are shattered

Re: Ralliart Lancer production slowed/ceased

always be the second-hand market.... enough to satisfy the most ardent want-to-be owners..

Add me to that list! (or the VW Golf R list!)

Re: Ralliart Lancer production slowed/ceased

I know :(

My parents just bought a Golf (GTI not R##) but it goes like a rocket, 2dr, small and punchy.

Team wikipedia had some links.
The British press reports today that the Mitsubishi Evo X might very well be the last of the breed. Apparently, global product director Gayu Eusegi, stated in an interview that the Evo has reached the end of its career. The X will be the last version ever produced, despite the fact that the rally inspired street racer is still in great demand everywhere.

Lately, Mitsubishi is steering its product line to greener, more environment friendly vehicles. They've announced various future models which will be powered by hybrid and electric powertrains. The 2.0-liter, turbocharged, rally inspired Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution just doesn't fit the company's policy anymore.
Previously, various rumors said that the next generation Mitsubishi Evolution will probably be a diesel hybrid. At the time, enthusiasts and fans argued that such a move would probably mean the end of the "rally car for the road" brand. It seems that they were wrong. This will be the end of the Evo.

When asked, company officials confirmed that the Evo X will be kept in production until 2013, but refused to give details regarding their future plans.
Some consider this statement a confirmation of the rumor, but don't jump to conclusions just yet. The Evo is the car that put Mitsubishi on the map for a huge percentage of their current customers. We're not really sure the Japanese car manufacturer is ready to give up on so many customers. They will lose not only a large chunk of their sales, but also a large section of the profit they get from servicing these EVOs. We have to tell you, the regular inspection bill is not exactly cheap.

We'll have more details on the future Mitsubishi Evolution, if it will ever be another one again, as soon as they're available.

Re: Ralliart Lancer production slowed/ceased

saw a youtube vid on this a few weeks ago
kinda bummed, silly of taking their best car off the line

Re: Ralliart Lancer production slowed/ceased

Honestly why couldnt they do something like nissan(r35 GTR) and bring it into it's own category. For e.g. Mitsubishi Evolution. Sad sad indeed, when the day comes I'll be looking at Mitsubishi like its a toyota( being that all the sports cars a crap) :( . The other thing as well if they do bring out a performance electric car it will sound like crap compared to a v8 lol.

Re: Ralliart Lancer production slowed/ceased

as if they will allow rival companies; Suzuki Kizashi (AWD Turbo will come along shortly), Suby WRX etc.. to corner the market...

Mitsu will always want part of that...

Although, Toyota did turn away from spirited cars, allowing Lexus to dominate that area (within their company), but those prices are largely out of reach for most people on here (me included).

Does this mean that my plans to get an evo x when its outdated later on in my life is gonna fail seeings as they'll become rarer and therefore more expensive?

Kidding right? They are surely still making enough profit. Does this mean we will stop seeing Mitsubishi in the rallys? As soon as a few more Subaru/Other manufactures proceed to create better cars the EvoX will be too outdated to compete.
