ES AUX Port

Hello,
I know ryan is most likely going to be the first to answer this but oh well someone beat him 2 it :).

I hear their is a port available under the AC controls, however i've been to lazy to look. I know mitsubishi sell a adapater for like 70 bucks but i highly doubt it's to actually make use of the aux port but rather give you one friken expensive aux cable :).

Any info on where its located is much appreciated :D

The MY08 CJ had nothing. (Unless you got the VRX with Rockford, which then got 2 RCA plugs) so you had to buy (or dodgy one up) a headphone plug to get wired into the back of the headunit (in the harness).

MY09 onwards got the RCA plugs as standard across the range.

you can buy a BIT ONE, its made by audison and it hooks up to your stock headunit and allows you to run every thing you would have in a high end system with the controls of the stock unit, the downer is its bout 1k

I can sort one out for ya! $20 installed, did it to Soph's ES the other week, only takes about 30 mins to put it in if I already have the cable pre-made and ready to go..... I just make it up from some audio cable, 3.5mm gold plug and glued heatshrink from jaycar! You have to pull out all the stereo and *poo* and then there's a harness there to tap into. Then all you do is hold the CD button on and the stock deck goes into AUX mode....

I'll upload a pic for ya tonight but basically it's just a cable that comes out via your glove box and you can plug it into anything with a 3.5mm jack!

Argh Ryan your in NSW I am on the Goldy this would be perfect as I am sick of CD's and listening to my iPod through headphones aint cutting it. lol

Do you know anyone here that can arrange something like this or are we able to come to an compromise and meet somewhere I will pay extra for gas if needed.

Cheers
Andrew

well said. Although I hate that everything seems to be going this way....everything really needs to become standardised, its all become a big mess of proprietary *poo*!

Southside Brisbane here.

 Nah Goldy is over 10hrs away unfortunately.

Do you know how to solder or use crimp lugs? if so I can provide instructions on exactly which wires to tap into and you can source your own cable or I can get a cable (~$20) if needed...

Alternatively I am sure you can work something out with Adrian...

should be able to throw the same thing together yourself with a little bit of mucking around and a cheap soldering iron. Could even use wire crimps or those screw in joiners if your feeling super dodgy.

Ryan im curious to know what port the back of the unit uses?

I found a pic of the connection:

The Red, Black and White cables shown.

This was my first mod on the CJ :)

I used the plug that sits lower down behind the centre console to cut into, not where the wires enter the CD Player. I'll dig around for photos later on, i think they are still on my laptop which won't boot's hard drive....

Not all models back then had those wires Ryan, your's would have due to the having Rockford. MY09 onwards all models had a AUX RCA plugs so they would have those wires.

Was there on a MY08 ES.... So I daresay they are there in every single CJ, just not plugged into anything unless the RCAs are on that car....

It was about an Aug/Oct 07 build ES that I found the plug in....
