I read in Hot4s a wile back about makin your own eyelids with a fibre glass repair kit. I want to give this a go but i cant seem 2 find the issue im after. Has anyone seen this issue and no what number it is? or has anyone done this themself and know how?
cheers for any help guys

If you have done any fibre glassing before it wont be hard. just use masking tape to tape over you headlight and surrounding area, then paint on FG resin the add a sheet of FG then paint again then add FG till 3 or 4 layers are done putting more FG resin on top. wait to dry over night pull it off, using a dremel cut it to shape be test fit before you start sanding and shaping, will probably take 2 full days to do properly

making in out of a mold is okay, but the real finishing then will be using fillers and sanding, prior to painting. When it is done in a mold, they use a gelcoat finish, laid down first, to get that silky smooth glass-like finish.

yeah but basic diy for this wont use a mold unless planing on making loads of them. fillers and sanding is the cheapest way to go. plus you learn some basic skills along the way

doesn't that depend on the level of finish required?!

Sanding and filling is the cheaper way to go, granted.

just don't use those sentiments and words to go in half-@ssed with iso cyanate laden paints.. okay!!

oh yes painting is another story get that visible finish perfect before you even think about painting or it will be a waste of time

just thought i would mention it but buying eye lids isn't that expensive, its almost not even worth DIYing it. You will only can skills, it will probably cost more

There are alot of things where people will say, its easier and not much more money to buy/get something rather than DIY it. But if you got the time and money that's required go for it! and post a thread about it as you go!

If it works, use/sell it, if it doesnt, you still had fun doing it anyways.

Thats my approach to most things.
