Great news Guys and Gals! Mini Cooper S front rotors are a 100% direct bolt on! I honestly couldn't believe how easy it all slid together. I even changed the title of this thread to reflect. :D

Here are some pics!

First you trim the puny dust shield off. I just cut through it with the dremel and then took a flat screwdriver and a pair of pliers and bent it off.

Slide the mini cooper rotor on and screw on a lugnut or two.

Bolt up the GVR4 twin piston front caliper bracket.

You can see here it is very close but it does not rub.

Snap in the GVR4 front pads.

Money shot. 8)

Here you can see how close the bracket rides to the rotor but I don't see this being an issue.

Mini Cooper rotor vs. stock 4g rotor. The difference is HUGE!!!

Also note that it takes a minimum of a 15" wheel to clear these. Once again we owe our thanks to bmw88rider as it was his idea to use the Mini Cooper stuff. I'll only take a little bit of credit for going out and buying the stuff to test it all out. :D

Thanks man all i needed to know answered :-D rescued my galant discs from being machined this morning and going to call and see if i can exchange them today!

Ok update on this, vr4 rotors are $45 trade price each. Mini cooper s are $88 for standard each, $190 for slotted although they'd be specially built. Vr4 are $150 for slotted. I was quoted $50 a rotor to redrill each rotor. So mini are more expensive but cheaper if you get charged an ass raping for drilling 8 holes. I was going to get slotted but if they don't end up fitting i'll be stuck wirh them, so i ordered standard and will pick up and test fit this week.

What brand rotors? The RDA slotted rotors + red stuff pads I'm getting off the net are 310. Slotted + EBC ultimax were only 210 delivered. If it's DBA they're usually a bit more than RDA's.

Redrilling costs $50 a rotor?
I didn't think it would be that expensive to be honest.
+ don't forget the hub centric ring if you go VR4 rotors. Not sure how it is on the Cooper ones but from the pics it seems they may not need it

coopers dont need a hubcentric ring/spacer, i think mini rotors will work out better in the long run, wont lose spacer, and dont need redrills each ncew disc

From memory though according to the DBA website the cooper rotors as slightly off, by 1mm somewhere.
I guess it may not make too big of an issue

Only thing concerning me is the lack of gap between the caliper and rotors, doesn't allow for much movement/expansion if any.

Can always file that bracket back a bit. That's probably what I'll do if it's close when mine turn up. Just ordered the rotors and pads so will post up pics when they're done

They'll be on my car by Friday so I'll be able to give them a serious "testing out" on the weekend if you know what I mean ;-)

Nice work. Mine won't be on by then, gotta get my callipers rebuilt first - should all be done by mid next week all going to plan.

Going to have a bit of a mix n match with my brakes - combination of magna/proton/cooper/mirage bits lol

I'm just hoping I didn't put too much paint on my calipers and there's still a gap left haha!
