Cold Air Intake

Hey guys, anyone know of any suitable/good cold air intakes for an 06 CH ES and where I could find one?

There's a kit from RPW, eBay ones have been mentioned before in this thread and there's always the DIY solution. The CH's all come factory with an over the radiator snorkle, which is pretty well a cold air intake, so I'm not sure what you're looking to gain?

Hope this helps.

Here is a snipet of info from Racing Performance:

Fitment of a K&N Factory Replacement Air Filter for those wanting the Stock look, with improved air flow and throttle response
  1. This vehicle utilises a MAF – Mass Air Flow Unit which measures air volume and records back to the ECU as the primary referencing source for all ECU management. Universal ebay type air filters creates many idling, running rich and other issues with drive ability. Utilising the K&N Specific Ram-pod filter that is oval shaped with an oval shaped adapter. This way we ensure that you do not have any ECU tuning issues.
  2. Cold Air Induction Kit – RPW manufacture a polished stainless steel system with that show car quality looks, and price. We manufacture this in various sizes from 2 1/2″ to 3″ diameters depending upon your requirements.
The Cold air kit relocates to the front bumper, pulling cold air especially where utilised with a after-market front bumper.

That then opens you up to water penetration, so they advise purchasing a K&N Pre Filter Charger Kits that provides additional filtration and resistance to water, not 100% foolproof but better than nothing.

Another thing, if you do use a K&N filter, make sure you follow the correct procedure to clean it and only use the recommended amount of K&N air filter oil in recharging, if you use to much or the wrong type of oil that will cause problems with your MAF sensor, in turn causing you car to run like crap (technical term) , you could buy a generic brand one from ebay, if you do, then you may have to refer back to the above technical term.

In other words buy a proven well tested brand name, remember after you spend all the money $$$ your gain will only be about 1 to 2 KW in total, remember if you open up one end you really need to open up the other end as well to get any real benefit, more $$$$, ideally extractors/free flow cat/decent exhaust system, that would be good for up to at least another 10kw on top.
