Ce Lancer - Converting to EVO instrument cluster

lancer 00

New Member
Hi,

Just wanting to find out if the cluster out of an evo 4-6 fits a CE lancer without any modifications needed?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Cheers

John

hey man, welcome to auslancer :D its a direct 'fit' although i think it will only work with the evo engine and ecu, i may be wrong tho.

post up a ride thread and fill out ur location ;)

nope, its completely compatible as far as i know, everythign works 100%
screws right in and tacho and speedo and temp and fuel work fine, seen other people with them in

you dont need the ecu for the gauge cluster to work

also welcome to auslancer

i thought i read on MLGA that its the same deal as with the 4G15 > 4G93 cluster.. they dont work with each other

nah i seen ppl do it, it works fine, altho if u have a non tacho cluster stock then u will just need to wire up the tacho in the evo cluster (which is piss easy)

other than that they will work

dunno about auto or manual tho, i know auto clusters work for both maual and auto cars, but if u have an auto and put a manual cluster in i think it works but u just dont get the gear indicator in ur cluster (if someone knows better then plz say)

I have a 4g93 cluster in my gli ( 4g15 )

works perfectly.

im not sure about the evo since the computer is recognised as AWD not FWD.

just do what ive been thinking about. get an MR CE3 cluster and get custom blue faces

does that model have the road surface selection? Gravel, Snow, Tarmac?

If so, you would not get that function, surely!

I am just rambling, never been in a CE..

i kno someone on MLGA had the proper evo one with blue dials
and i never heard them say it didnt work
forget who did it tho

pix is proofz they did it

thats maggie30, but she has a 4g92 dohc

well that just proves it works with non awd cars and engines other than 4g63's

but maggies computers and so on arnt right, everything had to be retuned including the dash.

Evo, Cyborg, 1.8s into 4g15 all work with each other, sometimes need to add a new cable from pin 58 on the ecu to the back of the cluster.

And maggie30 doesnt have a 92 its a 94.

I'm pretty sure that was evo 8 and 9, don't remember it being in the 7's but deffinately know that evo 8's have that.

I love these 'one-post wonders'.. seems like we do all the talking! Pity, our membership could do with more active people!

still sorta On topic

say you change the cluster over,
-does your original Odometer reader get reset with the new cluster or
-does the new cluster's odo overwrite your original odo or
-does the ECU have the odometer set, and just writes it to whatever cluster is installed?

if that makes sense :S

NO

The odometer values are stored by the cluster.

true.. maybe make it a requirement to post a ride thread/introduction b4 u can post topics asking for help.

lol nah i think if people need/want help but dont wanna stick around its their own choice

I PM'd Ryan, about the need to cull a lot of the truly inactive people, he is considering it...

No point our stats saying 362, if only 150 are active members...

But, he may think differently from me, but I have been pushing for a staged membership. Access to very limited areas for free/regular membership, access to a world more for Premium members and then additional benefits for Sponsors/Donating members etc...

It worked well on my motorcycle website, I had all but 50 people paying members (wasn't expensive either)... That means we had enough money to keep it ad-free and lots of goodies for paying people..

It's not up to me, but I would hate to see the few of us Premium Members be the only thing that stop Ryan having to pay himself for the ISP fees etc...

So, all you non-Premiums, stick your hand in your pocket for Ryan!!!

Ok, getting off my soap-box now...
