CE lancer bogging down 1.8lt

Howdy all
Just wondering if anyone can help
My lancer is playing up when the maf sensor is plugged in. It bogs down if it’s flooding.
If I unplug it it has all power but of course idles high etc
Is my maf sensor stuffed ?
It’s been cleaned etc

That sounds like the sensor has given up the ghost mate. I had a similar thing on my skyline, a new one fixed it. But verify first before buying

Thanks mate. After testing I’ve found it’s faulty. I know you can get new ones but they are quite expensive

Have a look at some generic aftermarket ebay spec ones. Most should have a warranty, for at least a year. Worst comes to worst you can jus tun It till it dies again, but the car will be back on the road

I'd suggest finding someone wrecking a 1.8 CE and just buying the MAF.
Pick-a-part and other self serve wreckers have plenty too, at $36 each.
But they are often exposed to the elements (not sure how bad that is for a MAF).
Though they have warranty, so you could just keep swapping (even in the car park) until one works well.
