ok, so my mates lookin at buying a car and he has his eyes set on thi
http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars...Nne=15&__No=210&trecs=1010&__sid=130284B445E9

now i was just wondering what i should look out for, keep my eye on etc...
cause we were gonna go up in a few weeks
from the pics it looks in good nic, low kms etc... but they are pretty crap pics
now i told my mate to get a revs check and a RWC done on it, but i was wondering what else i should look out for?

we were look up on driving up and then driving back, we could fly, but its been a while since iv been on a road trip to the gold coast

did you notice that car looks like it has hit something.
there is damage around the top of the number plate.

look close at the photos.

I think that actually looks like reflection...if you notice the photo from above that dint looking bit is gone. I love this model lancer. Lots of good parts you can get for these too in Japan and the US. One of the favourite bits I had on mine was the ralliart grille from here: http://www.japanparts.com/db/parts_...LL=&SEARCH_MAKER=&SEARCH_VOLKEY=&SEARCH_page=. Completely changes the look of the front end, and with the exhange rate are cheap as at the moment. That's the same front bar I had too, but not cheap! Only other things I'd do would be dump it, some nice wheels, evo parts for the interior and then some basic engine mods.

ahaha, yeh
my mate isnt really a 'car enthusiast' so i highy doubt he would go for anything
but that grille does look nice

Just wait till he says, I want to get some better speakers... that's where it all began for me lol

Personally I think the CG looks like a beluga whale.
yeh, i myself am not a fan of that lancer, but my mate saw it, like it, so its a step in the right direction
currently he drives a ford mavrick with around 400,000km on the clock and borderline dying, so he wants something more 'efficient',. hes had the car since he was 16, and he's 24 now, so its his second car lol

No way, CG's look way better than CH's. They're the closest looking lancer to the evo's, and they have the good looking headlights, not the big teardrop things.

I have nothing constructive to add really but that the front of the car reminds me of Toyota Celsior....

Instead of going the imitation evo style I would go VIP with this one, the shape and chunkyness of it would suit it.

Nice car and good price, which means you have to be super careful. You should check when the timing belt would need to be done on these. I know with CEs the manufacturer recommends 80,000km to 100,000km so you have to factor in that needing to be done soon. Its a dealer too... from my experience with dealers they dont sell cheap for no reason.

Another thing is that dealers must offer at least 3 months warranty on used cars, but may offer more, or you could purchase more warranty for after the initial 3 month period. I have heard very many bad things about the Australian Warranty Network so if the dealer is pushing that sh*t on you dont buy it (google them if you dont believe me). So if your mate buys it you have 3 months to weed out any problems and get back to the dealer and they have to fix it (wear and tear excluded), this 3 month warranty should be "free" with the purchase.

thanks electronix, i will ask about the timing belt and when it was last change, but were buying private
also, car modding doesnt interest him at all really

gonna ask service history, timing belt, previous issues, owner history
should be simple, were lookin at heading upto the gold coast around 11th june (long weekend) so keep an eye out for my car kids :p

Oh right... The carsales ad is for a dealer vehicle thats why I started talking about dealer warranty. My bad.

For a private sale, it looks like the correct price, but with very low kays....

One thing, unless you're a very keen eye or a super-mechanically minded person, for peace of mind...engage with a mechanic or RACQ to do a quick check over it.

Looks like a great car..

I like the look of the CG.
