Aluminium Radiator

What up fellas, i need to replace me radiator for my coupe since there's a small coolant leak on the top, so i might aswell upgrade to a more efficient aluminium radiator, however having trouble finding one, and have been told by sellers evo radiators wont fit, has anyone fitted one before? Or know if they will fit, otherwise what modifications are required?

Thanks

I know the EVO 1-2-3 radiators fit the CC. So i dunno why the CE would be any different.

i've done it, i used an evo 123 one and just moved the mounting tabs and trimmed the top pipe so the bonnet closed. i also have one for sale. lol

yeah i saw your post was gonna buy it but MOR3l beat me too it, do you need longer rad hoses or anything like that? Roughly how much do you have to trim off the radiator for fitment?

i just put a 10mm taper on the front cause the top pipe sticks out of the tank. no change to pipes

If you get it that's fine. I've spent to much this week so I wouldn't be looking to get it for a week or 3

Some folks in the US run a civic half size radiator which means you will have heaps more space and if u get a good one it will be just as good as stock. Plz do this so I can see how its done :p

I'm toying with the idea but still want aircon so need to work out how to work it all together. Custom work needed

+1 I am also going to be needing a half size radiator I think the cost of getting two slimline fans will be the same as a Civic half... might lookon fleabay and see what is there..

So I spotted a large amount of civic half radiators on there starting price is around $95 and then there were some with a fan and sheild already installed for around the $160 including delivery, slimline fans on there own are approx $45 each... in the next few weeks I am going to grab one and see how it fits up.

Good job christine, ill follow suit so if you manage to find out what works etc, maybe we should try and share shipping or something. I dont think it should impact AC......I have removed my AC fan.....as you dont really need it as long as u use the ac only when actually driving correct?

another thing that you can probably do is to have 2 fans - 1 on either side of radiator, one blowing and one sucking - although that may not work either....

I guess that is why they call it modding you have to try things out to seeif they work or not...

yay for people being guinea pigs
open up more options of stuff to do for the greater community

im very interested to see how it goes

I like the 3 core one....aluminium with 40% better cooling than stock so that would be equivalent to a standard sized one :p

you can fit an evo one but the top bracket mounts are different on an evo.
option is if you buy an evo one because it is slightly cheaper you can make custom mounts.
another option is to use a factory evo radiator from evo4-6.5.
They are way thicker than the OE mirage/lancer one.

My suggestion is run a OE mitsu radiator or mirage/lancer/evo variety
OR
Aftermarket Alloy radiator.

There is no need to use half size this and that unless you are doign it for a purpose like clearing a turbo setup.
eg. They do custom radiators for ct9a evo7-9 for the forward facing turbos where the inlet is facing the front of the car and you can see it behind the grill.

thanks Henry - I actually need a smaller sized radiator as I have exhaust manifold clearance problems i probably have 2mm clearance
