Alarm upgrade problem

Ok, have a Mitsi alarm upgrade package and everything plugs in except a pretty big important looking connector. Its put into a '97 CE Mirage so it may have something to do with that being a first model

The "20" pin Alarm plug will not plug in to the Vehicle plug as it is a different size and the Alarm plug has a LOT more wires in it so am buggered if I know what happens next (apart from pulling it all out)

That will be your problem then. The cable running into those plugs is for the lock or unlock function, can't remember which.

You will probably find it will not power up either as that system is designed to run with the central locking & tapped into its power.

It is possible to chop & change the kt to work with an after market central kit, but it isn't a quick thing to do.

Kit says "CDL / Keyless entry & Base alarm system"

Came with door solenoids and full wiring etc so to me it is a factory upgrade from not having it if that makes sense.

The plug is the only thing that doesnt fit

Oh rightyo, didn't realise you also had the central locking kit.

Haven't touched one of them before, but you would assume if everything is included should be a spot for it.... Will go have a look at my CE & see what c.

edit: can't see much in situ. will pull it apart later if no one else answers & i feel motivated.

Thanks for the offer but found the plug. Instructions lead me to believe the plug concerned was the one I highlighted in the photo but in actual fact is was tucked up out of the way and under the carpet closer to the base of the dash. A quick install of the 20A fuse and all is spot on.

Damn happy I now have central locking AND alarm plus immobilser.

No more locking the damn key in the car for me! Mission complete for today's effort. Beer o'clock...

* edit *

hey mate i'm glad its sorted, was about to rush over to my sister's place to double check the connectors. i did the same thing as my sister's car is an early CE and the dealer said he wasn't sure it would work. but it did those kits are designed for all CE's.

I must admit I didn't want to pull it all out after making sure it went in right. The connector I was after did a great job of hiding. No swearing or blood lost on this one :)

Great to see people willing to help out so quick.

Cheers and beers!
