Hi all

long time stalker, first time poster! I recently brought a 97' Mirage CE and have a couple of questions that may sound a little amaturish..

1) How do I know if my current wheel has a airbag? It doesn't say SRS on it also its the old two spoke wheel so I don't think it does..

2) Silly question.. I like the look of the CH wheel, any chance at all you can some how put one of these on a mirage CE?

3) Has anyone ever brought after market tail lights for these hatches? I have searched high and low and cannot find any anywhere!

Sorry if all this has been mentioned previously, and thanks in advance for any answers you fellas give!

Cheers

Welcome!

2 Spokers dont have air bags

Not sure if the splines are they same, i think someone on here is also wanting to try it. Best bet is find a wreckers with a CH and try. Or get skippy to try it since he has both CE anc CH.

Not much option as far as ive seen, you can swap between the early mirages and the later mirages, the difference being, one has a crystal clear lens, the other is kinda frosted and ugly.

You can check the UK ebay, as they also got hatches, but they call them Colts. The US never got the hatches so dont bother ebay US.

Really appreciate all that! In terms of headlights, same gig? Im pretty sure mine comes in two parts like some of the lancers?

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

Headlights you can get anything that fits the CE coupe, so you can get the angel eye ones and whatnot.

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

this is a CG lancer wheel which is very similar to the CH as it has a bolt on the side that clamps on the steering column

i think CE's have a nut that screws onto the column that holds it on.

just get an evo 4-5-6-6.5 wheel, no bosskit needed

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

how much do they set you back? and do you just then take out the airbag?

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

Genuine Evo wheels will cost a couple of hundred or more from what I have seen. I too am keen for a genuine non air bag wheel.

BTW the red Rage looks good

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

Apart from the option of swapping to the newer model tail lights that Tron suggested, the only other real option for our mirages are these covers:

Basically just an overlay to give it a unique look.

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

You cant just rip the airbag out. Non airbag covers wont fit. Best off leaving the bag in place and not having it hooked up but IMO, a bit expensive for something that doesnt work

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

Sixes, what would you do in my situation with limited funds haha?

Also thinking of hooking up those projector headlights they look hella nice!

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

Save your hard earned $ and buy the right gear that will fit and work first time by going what others have done (plenty of info on this forum). Don't substitute for rubbish or something that "will do for now" only to have to spend more money later.

Yes it is frustrating having to wait but will be worth it in the end. Set a goal on what you like and work to it.

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

yeah good call.

will just keep hunting a non air-bagged evo steering wheel

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

I personally hate the cheap aftermarket gear but that is me. Having said that I have seen some good looking aftermarket wheels (and boss kit) that would look good. All up to your individual taste and of course, $$$

I read a rule somewhere that if your OEM wheel has a soft or padded centre then it must conform to that when getting aftermarket but you need to check your own state legislation first

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

Decided to just buy a 3 spoke wheel for the mirage as I like them anyway and just not hook up the airbag :)

Re: 3 questions regarding steering wheel, airbag and tailigh

Just the mirage 3 spoke for now. Couldn't find an evo RS wheel for under 360
