G'day everyone,

Long time no see well during my recent mods I have struck upon a minor issue that isn't really causing grief its just annoying lol

It's my headlight housing, randomly both my headlight housing get this condensation inside them any ideas how to fix? I have installed 10k HIDs and to make them fit I had to cut a bit of the rubber seal to fit them in. However I duct taped rubber seal to the wire loom around the whole that was cut. And yet it still persists. Any ideas would be great!!!

Many thanx in advance!!!

If you didnt have it before you installed the hids it would be due to the cut you made. so maybe you didnt seal it properly??

I did have it before just not as bad... But like I said I rescaled off the rubber cap thing properly.

Does it only happen after you wash your car? When it's rainy? or even did you put in your HIDs when it was humid weather??

Moisture managed to get inside the housing somehow and the condensation is just it trying to get out... think of a coke bottle left in the sun.

You need to try to get inside and dry it up (maybe a hair dryer will work?) and then re-seal the whole thing as best you can.
Duct tape isn't going to be enough - you may need to get some silicone around the wires/rubber seal or even around the edges of the casing.

I can tell you that I've never had any condensation in my headlights, before or after I changed the bulbs.
goodluck!

what TCYlancer said.

Take them out, pull the bulbs out, put them face down so the hole is the highest point, and hit them with a hairdrier for a bit, or put them on a heater, so the moisture inside evaporates out, then put the bulbs back it, if it happens again its probably leaking through your rubber.

Not a bad thought I'll definately give it a shot!! I'll let ya know the out come!

Im still having issues with this and its driving me insane i was just thinking about ebaying a new one its driving me nuts!

any other suggestions?

Where the lens meets with the case, it has a line of chemical sealant from the factory. This can be heated to release the lens from the case (as you have seen done by plenty of members here).

You may, have a small leak in this area, which may allow rain water to enter, or washing water to enter.

Finding out if this is the case, is fairly easy. Use coloured (dyed) water, and gently stream over the joint. If you detect dyed water inside the headlight, then the join is suspect.

Fixing will entail removal, cleaning and drying, then silicone over the joint also.

Apart from that, making sure that the rear cup has adequate sealant to stop water entering, as stated above, is a must.

Good luck.
