Turbo Mirage 1.9LT

My wheel saga continues.
I called the wheel shop that I dropped my original wheels I wanted for the Mirage.
It's been 6 months since I dropped them off. Guy said "they lost the job sheet" yet happened to find it while on call.

I did pick up 2 new wheels for the car, pending pickup Monday from another shop.

Thanks man.

Swap was easy for me only because I have done it SO MANY TIMES lol
It's second nature. Although still can be a PITA for some things
Full swap from my coupe moving EVEYTHING over was the worse and never want to do it again. I worked alot of late nights.
Got it done quick as I didn't want to shells in my garage and my Magna parked on the side so I needed the coupe stripped asap.
P.s. how did you know about my kitchen sink :flushed:
Okok that's fair, you did make it look easy but cheers for being realistic!

Quick question on the fuel tank/pump (my pump is whining). Is it just 1) let it drain out 2) zip bolts out 3) disconnect any hoses 4) drop tank 5) bobs your uncle. Or is there smth specific to look out for on the CEs?

And new no-name users know everything.... ....

Big update
Did a bunch on servicing stuff on the car
New oil, new fuel filter/oil filter, new rocker cover gasket, fixed up the oil leak on the sandwich plate.
And for the biggest news (drum roll) only been 6 months and what I wanted originally.....
.....
.....

NEW WHEELS!

No more cheap speedy crap
Genuine Nissan R32 GTR wheels on the front and genuine Nissan R32 GTS-T wheels on the rear
GTST wheels are 6.5" running road tyres 205/45
GTR wheels are 8" running Falken semi slicks at 215/45
Currently all have no paint. Been stripped off. I really love the raw look. But might go silver as they have some imperfections
Thanks to @02lncr.justin for dropping the GTR wheels for machining. His shop had it done in less than an hour
*top bloke*s (not top bloke by the way) at the shop that had the GTST wheels took 6 months
Very happy with the new Nissan wheels. Looks nice IMO

I finally rewrapped the dump pipe, front pipe, and reseated the turbo blanket, and made a new actuator for the wastegate as the other one was very oddly placed
Rewelded a new bung for the wideband closer to the turbo. Got a front exit exhaust on a cutoff now. So I have a quiet and LOUD option for the exhaust on a switch, works instantly.
Engine bay pic
I rerouted the oil feed line for the turbo. Comes around the block following the coolant lines now, rather than up around the AC bracket and where the PS pump used to be.
I am very happy with it, I think I'm happy with the setup. No oil leaks now. I think I need to work on heat management though. It gets VERY hot. Oil sat at 100c just driving without doing any hard stuff today.

Nothing to big of an update
Painted the GTR wheels, they have a really nice metallic shine to them. Not the best job but looks nicer than what they were before.

Went to Calder park last week.
Was fun, but my times were *poo*. Only good one was 13.6, the new tyres are different than the AR1s, rest of the runs were *poo*. I kept getting thrown around launching and miss 2nd gear.

Engine bay pic. Some heat shielding between turbo and engine block, some on the bonnet also. Worst part of the top mount, is EVERYTHING gets hot lol

Oh shiiiii, the Mirage is now luxurious.

Got inspiration from seeing an old post on MJBs thread, and I think I remember someone else do a full black interior recently also. Might have been Cesario on the Jumbuck.
Used vinyl paint and adhesion promoter for the A, B, C pillars, and all the other bits that came off. Clips that hold the roof in. And the dome light surround.

To do the roof used I used liquid dye as I got the idea from MJBs thread, was a prick to use. Took awhile to get the mixtures correct. Turned out very nice, not perfect the headliner has scratched and some pulled fabric, I mean the headliner is also 24 years old lol. Felt like using the dye was easier that dealing with spray glue and fabric.

The coffin panels were all from a VR-X Mirage and already black.
So now the full interior is black, which I REALLY like, only downside was not being able to do the seatbelt top mounts. Can't take them apart :(

Replaced all the seatbelts with black ones from an MR coupe to match.

I was sitting in the wheel well and slip back and whacked my back on the strut brace mount. *fudge* me dead it hurt lol

P.S. I HATE FABRIC DYE. for anyone using it, for the love of god use gloves, that *poo* STAINS skin lol

Bruh I remember doing this in the red CC except no model has a black interior except gsr/evo. So after the dash, it was all painted myself :( big job. Do not envy you, looks good though. Makes a big difference

Well that sounds like a ball ache lol.

I was so happy to find the VRX Mirage interior. Saves so much time not painting them.
Scariest part was putting the interior back together, worst part was putting the seatbelt buckle and mount point through the C pillars.
I am super happy with our it turned out!

All 4 wheels have been painted.

I also painted the centre caps to match, and the rear hub dust caps to match,

gives it a cleaner look. If anyone is interested in the colour. It's a silver wheel paint kit by MTN, got it from super cheap. They have a really nice shine in the sun, and the paint has metallic bits in it. Gives a nice look close up. Was able to get all 4 wheels done with 2 kits costing me $100.

Lifted the car a tiny bit as the 8"s are a bit wide upfront and don't want to destroy new tyres.

I am so happy with the full black interior. Can't stop looking at it when I sit in the car. Although I have not drove the car at all. I just need to sort out the rear 2 folding seat colours. Might just go black covers like Rigby suggested.

I have one more major purchase for the car, something I have been hunting for quite awhile. This will be kept a secret until i have it in my hands.

I did say covers, but haven't even done that myself haha. Half grey half blue seats. Whoops. How flush is the front with the guards?

All good haha.
The wheels currently sit slight past the guards. I have only rolled the guards, they might need to be slightly pushed out. But I don't know if that's doable, so for now lifting the car fixed that

FAAAAAAAAARK

*fudge*ing stupid brittle old crap heater core barbs, this is now the lowest job on my list to do... I hate doing the heater core. So pipes will be bypassed. Heater for is another job.

Side note... Anyone want a black dual airbag dash, (airbags not included) let me know. I have a spare that I'm willing to sell to someone for the right price.

Update of the 'rage...

First change, I am selling the GTR/GTST wheels I love them, look good. But 8" are quite wide, and they were scrubbing and I didn't want to destroy brand new tyres...

So, I got a set of Magna VR-X wheels. Set of 5 for cheap, which I know fit, because I test fitted my Magna wheels on the Mirage.

So I now own 10 of these Magna VR-X wheels.

I did also get a wiper bolt cover.

I also got my hands on a very rare clean set of Mitsubishi Lancer CE Commonwealth games floor mates, fit nicely and looks super clean. Gotta keep that OEM+ look.

All my wiring has been cleaned up, everything setup on plugs, switches to make disassembly easier when I need to swap the heater core at some point in time.

My other parts/mods are current still in another state pending shipment. Might not be till the end of May, so Mirage will be off the road till maybe mid June. FMD

Who doesn't love buying "rare" parts for a giant paperweight

Here are a set of original Cyborg Fog lights, all bolt in and wire straight up, sadly guy I knew had nothing else left off the car to get :(

*edit.
They clear my intercooler pipes by a dees bick.

Check the part numbers, they may just be ce2 foggies. Can't imagine mitsu shelling out cash for more foggies

They are ce2 foggies, atleast they look identical, they just came off a Cyborg guy I know was selling them. I got the 2 for a really good price. Funny, overseas people selling "cyborg" ones for $500+ aud
