Trouble with rev tacho not working

so i have a 2001 ce lancer sedan that originally came without a tacho and im got one in the car at the moment but the issue is the tacho doesnt work. everything else does. im 18 with this fresh car and dont know much of anything about the autoelectric side of cars and need desperate help trying to figure this out
