Sway bars and strut braces

Iv found a cusco strut brace on eBay but the seller says it will only fit the evo model. However I looked at the bolts and the holes on the brace and they look like they would all line up . Are the evos wider ? Or is the seller wrong ? Here's the item number so you can check it out 380274591588

G' day. I have a 2007 ES (May) Not a bad little unit (like to see it as rear wheel drive). The biggest disappointment I have found with the car, is the suspension, particularly sway bar rubber bushes. Some "dealer" workshops have the idea that a good coating of grease will prolong the life, but in reality only causes the bush to move in the bracket and wear it out quicker. I have asked Pedders, but their response was that they might be able to get one to fit. I have had spring kits replaced, along shock stop bumps and the bushes. If it was not for Pedders, these items may have gone unnoticed. The rear sway bar was so bad, it was hitting the springs when cornering. Any idea where I can get decent bushes please?

Kind Regards

wow, first time i have seen a street car with that problem

you can buy latteral locks for most whitline swaybars, these basically clamp the bar either side of the bush making for no lateral bar movement (which is the problem you just described), but are you sure the problem lies in the bushes? could you have a snapped chassy mount or end link, loose bolts?

you can also get nolathane bushes to replace your current ones if they are damaged beyond proper use
nolathane is a plastic compound to my knowlege and is firmer than rubber, but still absorbs vibrations fairly well

also if u dont grease the bushes they wear VERY quickly, and can seize creating bad handling ammong other detrimental effects
if you origonally ran them with no grease you could have chewed out the bushes which could be causing the lateral movement due to larger hole than the bar due to wear, giving less grip on the bar.

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. It was pedders who complained about the grease. I'll check out the neopreen bushes :)

Hey (first post, just joined BTW), just for curiosity. Don't Australian Lancers have front upper strut brace OEM? The EU (CS-body, Hello from Finland BTW) has and also has the rear sway bar.

I followed your conversation and am really interested why don't you possibly have those. The rear end on EU Lancer's is a bit easy to slip (yes, this means some serious over steers on a front wheel drive :D ) but the front end, mostly because tight McPherson suspension and OEM strut bar is just great!

Also I highly recommend on swapping those sway bar's rubber bushings for some PU SuperFlex ones. I did and it's worlds better.

OT: I know the forum is for Australian Lancer's (which my Lancer is not) but it's basically the only active CS/CE/CH forum I have seen :D

All completed under warranty. Recently, the suspension started to "click and clack" again. After checks (3 work shops) all shocks were deemed to need replacment (105,000 Ks). Looking at KYB. The strut tops also need replacing at $230 eaqh (genuine) -$60 after market. See how we go.

Awesome!
What is the mod scene for lancers like in Finland? CE's don't come with any form of strut brace stock here. I find it crazy you can get your car to oversteer, I can't even imagine it in my car....
