Steering Wheel indicator

I have tried the search feature and to some extent got the answer I need, just looking for some clarification.

I have a 2001 Lancer GLi CE (coupe)
I've just changed the steering wheel to a new one, used a audio technica boss kit.

Question is, is there an easy way to check the indicator other than going around the block once?
Also where should the neutral (wheels straight) position be for the little white plastic thing?

There are 3 plastic pins that slot into the boss kit, at the moment the bit that flips the indicator back off is on the far left in neutral position.

I guess I should say hi since this is my first post, I've had my lancer around 2 weeks and this forum has been a wealth of information.

Mine sits right in the middle of that white plastic strip thing so that it's the same distance to lock the stalk in if you move it up or down. I assume you'll know what I mean, this is something really hard to explain without having seen/done this. You could test this by clicking it on and then turning the wheel back and forth and making sure it clicks off. I didn't get mine in right the first time I did it, and it would click in but wouldnt click back out - works perfectly now.

just jack your front of the ground and try it, keep moving it around till its right

Ended up figuring it out while on the loo, as all the best thoughts seem to come there.

I'm a computer geek so mechanical things don't make as much sense to me, BI65ND was right it sits at the indicator, I couldn't figure out how to get it there! Took me 5 minutes to realise I could change the way the wheel sat on the boss kit and turn it 180. All's good though my indicator works 100% and everything is good.

good to hear, take some pics and make a build thread
