Shipping airbags international

Ok, so I was hoping to buy an evo 6 steering wheel from the US with the airbag. I've googled if it's ok or not and people in different countries say different things! :?

So does anyone know for sure if it's ok to ship steering wheels with SRS airbags? I thought if it's declared then it should be ok. And if it for instance gets seized by customs, would I be able to get my money back?

edit: This is what the seller says about shipping the airbags
"Yes it is safe to post sir, we ship these steering wheels to Australia and worldwide all the time without any issues. We package these things securely and we label the outside of boxes “Fragile, Do not drop” “Please handle with care”.

The only thing you might have to do on your end is pay your local post office for customs tax, but this very rare to happen."

Ok, I deal with Airbags on a daily basis, in Australia it is NOT OK to send dangerous goods, (2,3,4,5,8,10). These goods are not a loud on Airplanes at all from my understanding and you could run into serious issues if you try and bring one via customs... The only way is to send it via ocean freight, in which EPG documents must be supplied in case of an emergancy, and the box must be labeled Explosives 10 (10 I think, it may be 9 or 7 can't remember), and it must have a customs declaration for Australia AND the shipping country.
If it gets seized by customs for good, you probs won't get your money back. You may get a letter coming to ask to identify the goods, and give identity and *poo* to say what the goods are in which they may then be released.
TL;DR Airbag won't happen, if shipped correctly, fine.

EDIT: Herple, you mean actual car airbag. Applies above, just won't be "express" like I thought, just make sure it's label correctly, with correct paperwork and you shouldn't have issues, usually customs calls you when there is an issue. (I've had them call me when I've order stuff from japan before :| )

The BMW mechanic I used to use when I had 318i said he could fly them in from Europe in 4 days when I needed mine replaced.

Thanks skip, what sort of airbags were you initially talking about?
Ok so just looks like I need to tell them make sure it's labelled correctly saying there's an airbag inside the box, and there shouldn't be an issue. I hope it all works out.

Like overnight airbags... we use em for customers needing express parts fast. Takes 1 night to get to the east from wa...

Air bags are definately not allowed to be transported on planes, reason being they contain small amount of explosive powder (hence why they expand so quickly), i know Australia Post definately do not allow this, i work for Aust Post...

Hey James, are you just saying transporting explosive powder is not allowed? Because they may say its ok if it's in an airbag as a whole. That's what I'm not sure about.

Declan I'll link you tonight when I'm home from uni :/

declan link is in the ebay thread i posted a few days ago.
seller is jdmcandyshop and remembering our last experience with them as a group, i'm still a bit worried it might not all get here after i hand over the money (i'm buying some other parts from him too). but i fking want that steering wheel!
